    Please, consider 2nd option.
    Yes, it's more expensive but at a moment, you will have for the money you spent.
    Don't moan if it doesn't suit your need in the future....
    MP is a "big" software and also, win 10/11 ask for power PC.
    But the choice is on your hands.
    I am not moaning about anything as I said that I have other uses for the PC I bought.

    I am trying to work out what is the best bang for buck as I need three client machines for a certain configuration and don't want to overspend unnecessarily and I thought other MP users might be interested in the topic.

    Here's the configuration that I am now using for my client machines:
    4GB RAM;
    i3 with 8 processors;
    128GB disc;
    Windows 11 Home.
    Windows 11 seems to use an inordinate proportion of your memory even when apparently doing nothing; but MP1 seems to run smoothly anyway.
    These machines cost around £250.00 which I think is pretty good for a working client machine.
    One thing though is that these machines don't have ethernet (Rj45) so a good USB A 3.0 to ethernet adapter did make a great improvement over WiFi.

    As an aside, I have noticed that when a video is paused for a while the sound seems to be delayed for a second or so when playback is resumed. This doesn't happen when playback is paused and then resumed within a few seconds. Is there a setting that controls this?

    Hmm, I was under the impression that there is a setting somewhere to the effect Allow MP to drop frames to resync audio (or something like that). The problem is that I cannot now find that setting, so it is possible that I imagined it. :eek: :cry:

    On Windows 7, audio sync seems to be OK after a pause (or, if audio is out of sync, MP quickly resyncs it as I have not noticed prolonged periods of unsynced audio).

    That's interesting because I haven't been able to reproduce this on Windows 10 client machines and, from what you say, I wonder whether this is Windows 11 related; but I haven't been able to find a setting in Windows 11 that seems to effect this.
    I'll look in the code to see if I can find 'Allow MP to drop frames' and see how it works.

    I couldn't find anything referring to Allow MP to drop frames. I suspect that this may be a Windows 11 related thing.

    I'll do more research.

    I have just had a look through "MP Config" and "TV Server Config" to see if I could find the setting(s) that I was thinking of. I suspect that I was misremembering these two settings:

    Do not use slow motion to sync video to audio on channel change:

    Auto A/V Sync correction (lower left quarter of panel):

    The Auto A/V Sync correction looks the most probable setting that might affect what you are seeing.

    Did you try with a powerfull PC ?
    As usual, Win 11 is more resources demanding than Win 10.
    The thing is that the delay in sound doesn't happen when you pause the playback and resume within a few seconds; while the sound is delayed when there has been a delay before resuming. I don't understand why there is a difference dependent on how long you pause.

    This is not a serious issue so far as I am concerned. I only raised it out of curiosity.
