Hi Doornjoostje,,

Nice to hear. A few questions due to your new 8500GT:

- Is the flickering problem solved when watching 50FPS content and for example when you look in the EPG?
- Can you now watch 1080i channels without stuttering / dropping frames (I see you also live in Hengelo - so I assume you've got Ziggo as DVB-C provider)
- Does the card has HDMI output?

Cheers,
Frank

Hi Frank,

Yes, the flickering GUI is gone.

I don't live in Hengelo, but Roosendaal, still this is ziggo.
All my channels are great, can you tell me a 1080i channel?
I don't know any.

This card doesn't have HDMI output, but a DVI output. I have a DVI to HMDI cable. So this is all digital.

Doornjoostje,

When I open the EPG, I've got a HD channel right after 'Zenderoverzicht', called Brava (HD). It's interlaced (1080i), and my setup (780g gigabyte mobo + 4850e + Ati 3250 intergrated) won't cope with it (tried hardware powerdvd and coreAvc).

I tried every combination with every timing mode.

Manual though, too many options to change. But I did try Manual with Interlacing, on and off.

Could be a TV issue though, it's a Samsung 40" LCD.

Select manual and turn of interlacing.
Now the interlaced field can be enabled / disabled (isn't greyed out any more).
So disable interlace and then select auto (or an other one).
This way you have disabled interlace with auto timings.

Hope this helps.
If I change back to Auto, or another timing mode (besides the timing modes that already have interlaced disabled), the Interlace re-greys and selects itself.

Perhaps the TV isn't capable of it, even though it the box says otherwise ;) Or it may be a HDMI issue, who knows. I'll leave it alone for now, thanks for your help.

Interesting topic!

How do I enable the AERO feature without having to enable all the visual goodies that slow down vista ? (best performance setting in system)

I now have a terrible tearing with EVR renderer ):

can somebody post dxva-checker again? The link is broken..

Ok, Brava looks great here.

Doornjoost,

Thanks. I'm considering an videocard upgrade (GF8600), since the onboard ATi HD3200 gives me headaches. It's sad enough you have to buy a HT3.0 CPU (Phenom) to get the performance as it is inteded by the chipset.

Thanks !!! :D

can anyone on this thread help me out?

I have posted my logs at
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...upport-53/mp-crashes-when-connect-hdtv-50248/

I am using the exact same motherboard as all in this thread (MA78GM-S2H), using the builtin ATI graphics.
I can run MP at 1920x1200 connected to my LCD monitor (this is how I build my PC, and setup MP).
when I change to 1920x1080 (i.e. 1080p), either via my LCD monitor or my HDTV (in each case connected via HDMI), MP crashes. Vista itself is fine at that resolution.

So it must be something to do with my video configuration. Being new to MP (about a week) I don't now where to look. Any "known good working configurations" from other users of this board much appreciated. I'm using vista 32bit ultimate, apart from that I'm prepared to change other stuff if needed (ati driver versions etc).

thanks,
Ian
