Black Glass Skin 1.6.0 (1 Viewer)

Potential dumb question of the day:
BG 1.6 downloaded as a .MPE1 file. MP does not seem to recognize it. I went to MP Configuration/Plugins/MP Installer tab, deselected 'MPI files' and selected 'show all file types', then forced the install of BC 1.6. The install generated a large error message about inaccessible folders (couldn't copy, it was inside a dialog box). When I tried to start MP it would quit after the initial splash screen and drop me back into Windows.

If I selected a different skin then MP ran fine. I have manually deleted all BG 1.6 files including the cache, reinstalled BG 1.5.5 and everything runs great.

I am not including log files and such because I assume I installed BG 1.6 incorrectly. What am I doing wrong here, MP does not recognize the .MPE1 installer?

The .MPE1 extension is a MediaPortal extension, so you should be able to just execute the package directly (double click on it) and it will install itself.

Buddman, thanks. For some reason the MPE1 files did not associate with MP Installer during install. I selected 'open with' and guessed it was 'MP Installer' from the MP folder. However, I still got the same install error from the earlier 'tricked install' about "inaccessible folders", once again I couldn't cut and paste the error message, and when I checked the logs there was nothing in any of the logs for the last hour or so. But.....BG 1.6 is running fine despite the error messages during install. Go figure.

Hi errfoll, I had the same problem. Im not in front of mediaportal at the moment but if you click on the windows start button and locate mediaportal from your list of installed programs one of the options Is mediaportal plugins if you open that you should be able to install the MPE1 from there..I hope you understand my explanation but that is how i successfully installed it

Correct Installer file

Have a bit of search of the site.

I found there were two different installers.

One of them had an underscore in the filename, whilst the other didn't.

Both of them were the same size, but the one with the underscore in the filename had some sort of corruption.

When I used the other it worked without a hitch

not working my news on basic home

Hi!

I have two problems with BlackGlas.

1) On basic home I don't see any rss news and also no weather symbol.
2) If I press the my news button (i enabled rss news) within basichome there's no reaction.

Both plugins are enabled and are working if I choose them in home screen.

Did I miss a setup ???

You have to use Infoservice plugin to enable news rss and temp data.

Thank you for the Music update ! Now it is definitely usable ! And the more time spent on Black Glass theme, the more I enjoy its layout !

I noticed some flickering between the playlist menu and the bottom-left view port that shows the current playing info : it flickers when moving from one menu item to another. Not a big deal for usability but just a cosmetic issue
