This bug should have been fixed according to Mantis:

More info in this thread:

As I said, it's an old problem and quite hard to reproduce since it occurs only on some systems.

Chris: Sorry, I can't provide any logs at the moment; I'm not sure if this issue still exists on my HTPC - but I'm happy about the "StartOnWake" solution I mentioned, works like a charm. :)

Well, is someone familiar with StartOnWake?

It would be enough if the Program would kill mp and restart it afterwards.

Update: I didnt find any download mirror. Any ideas on that?

The program itself doesn't provide any information about the author or about distribution rights. Since I cannot find it anywhere on the web and don't remember the original download location, I guess it's okay if I put it on my website for download:

http://www.henner-schroeder.de/startonwake.zip

Just extract the ZIP archive and start this little program (the path doesn't matter as long as the .txt file is in the same folder). Put your system in standby or hibernation mode - when you wake up the PC, StartOnWake will notice this and execute the commands in the StartOnWake.txt file.
I had some problems with longer commands here, so StartOnWake just starts a batch file ("MP-restart.bat" or something like that) which kills the MediaPortal process (Mediaportal.exe) and restarts it.
For killing the process, I use another small freeware tool called PSkill - but you can find that one (or similar tools) easily on the web. :)

I hope it works for you as great as it does here!

EDIT: Just found the forums where I downloaded the program quite a while ago:
http://www.showshifter.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=003059
The website this threads links to - which seems to be the author's site - doesn't exist anymore.

Thanks in advance :)

You can download PsKill here (it's freeware):

http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/PsKill.zip

Just put this little program in the same folder with StartOnWake.exe, StartOnWake.txt and a batch file like MP-Restart.bat.
For this batch file, just start an empty .txt file with your text editor (like Notepad) and put these two lines in there:

PSKILL MediaPortal.exe
START "C:\Programs\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe"

Then you safe this text file as "MP-Restart.bat" and put this as a command into the StartOnWake.txt file.

The first line in your new batch file will tell PsKill.exe to terminate the process "Mediaportal.exe" immediately. The second one will start the program again - you'll have to change the path according to your installation, of course. Don't forget the quotation marks if you've got blanks in the path (like in "C:\Programs\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal.exe").
You could also start MediaPortal without the "START" command as well, by just putting the path in there - but in that case the batch file will start MP and then wait until it gets closed again, so the batch file command window stays active in the background all the time. If you start MP with the "START" command, it will just do so and then go on in the batch - and since there's no third command, it will just end itself.

I hope you all can understand my English :)

I did as you said and the mprestart script seems to work.

But: After hibernation mp isnt starting. (i closed mp befour hibernation so we could eleminate the things which could go wrong) So either the programm doesnt work or i got the startonwake.txt wrong.

In the .startonwake.txt file i only wrote:

start c:/bla/mpstart.bat

Shouldnt that do the trick?

StartOnWake is of course running. (i put a shorcut of it in the Autostart folder)

As I said, I had several problems with longer commands in the StartOnWake text file, so I simply put the name of the MP-start-batch file in there - if both are in the same folder, you don't have to specify the path. You don't need the "start" command here, that's just for the batch file; maybe this is the reason why it doesn't work.
So all that's necessary for the StartOnWake text file is "mpstart.bat" (without the quotation marks).

The whole "Kill & Restart" thing worked but its not really satisfying especially since StandBy works now. I got the log files now so im going to open a new thread.
