Should have read your earlier comment more carefully.
I think you'll find that you need audio hardware in order to be able to play TS files (at least with TsReader). The graph clock comes from the audio renderer. Without audio hardware you won't have an audio renderer, and that will screw with the playback graph in potentially unexpected ways.
Ive had this black screen also, opening TV everything was black and no sound.. Re-installed MP 1.6 and everything worked again.
Last week uptaded the Nvidia GPU driver and after it started MP and vola, again that black screen thing.
Changed the Audio Renderer in MP settings and problem was fixed. If I have time will try to re-create it to be sure!
But overall, for me changing the audio renderer solved the thing.
I have very similar problem - black tv screen, no sound (sometimes tv service crashed)
My new PC doesn’t work with existing tv server. Of course my old PC works fine. Configuration of both is similar. connection is ok - I can see EPG and recordings.
