Hi all,

I recently upgraded the driver for my Blackgold 6-1 TV card 6.0.0.39 to 6.0.0.49.

After the upgrade I went into TV-Server config. and in the cards list I saw the usual and a load of "unknown" ones. I removed the unknown ones and started to scan on the normal ones. The two DVB-S ones scanned fine. The two DVB-T ones reported no signal for everything.

I've tried stopping/starting TV service, rebooting, removing the co-ax cable and replacing. Nothing made a difference. I've rolled back the driver but it's still the same.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Find out if they only used a 2k modulation chip, and not a 2-8k one, thats why all the old settop boxes have now stopped working, this really should not be the problem considering the age of the blackgold products, but who knows.

Also there have been complaints about Moel-y-Parc transmitter giving problems, maybe there are some others, check yours here DTG :: Consumer :: Digital TV Reception Checker

I'd like to delete and then re-add the DVB-T entries but it won't let me. How do I go about doing that?

Tried various things to no avail so I did the following :

1. Connected aerial to a TV to test DVB-T signal. Detected all expected channels, viewed a few, all OK.

2. Uninstalled the card.

3. Uninstalled MediaPortal

4. Install new 6.0.0.49 drivers for card

5. Installed 1.1 beta of MediaPortal

6. Scanned DVB-T channels (Moel-y-Parc) - MP detected 0. None. Zero.

The TV tuner details of the card are :

Done some hunting and testing and discovered the new frequencies for Moel-Y-Parc. They are :

666000
698000
642000
714000
722000
690000

Confirmed by checking manual tuning on a TV.

However, when I scan I only discover channels on the first one. Is anyone else using Moel-Y-Parc?

Hi Dodgy Bob, I have a similar problem which boils down to not being able to load the BlackGold 3500 PCI Tv-Tuner Driver

I have a HP Pavilion Media Centre PC, currently running XP SP3 and updates. It came with HP interface, a software package through which there is access to various utilities that come with XP. MCE worked fine until C Drive crashed and I had to have new disc installed. I asked the installer to use the HP Recovery Discs I had made but they didn’t work. What he did instead was to load XP SP3 and updates. Since then MCE couldn’t find the TV-Tuner. I bought a cheap digital TV stick that I can get freeview on fine. I use an external antenna mounted in the loft from which I get good pictures on my digital tv with a feed via a splitter to either the TV tuner card or the stick. I decided to try a BlackGold 3500 PCI card because I wanted the convenience of the MCE software. However, when I tried to load the drivers only the analogue drivers would work. The driver install wizard wouldn’t recognise the digital driver for ?unknown device in Device Manager. I got back to the vendor support and BlackGold support. The latter suggested the on board code might be out of date so I exchanged the card but the same problem recurs. I think the problem might lie with the HP interface or the absence of it. The bios still has some HP software in it. I used to have a partition on D Drive called E drive, that was a recovery drive but was lost.

I think the problem is to do with the absence of the HP interface software. Has anyone come across this problem? Does anyone know how to solve it. I am reluctant to spend £33 on a set of HP recovery discs without any guarantee that will solve the problem.

Does the TV card show up under device manager with a ! mark next to it, really think this is more hardware related than any software problem.

Check with TVCards own software, because if it will not work with that, then it won't work with MCE or MP.

My problem was purely to do with the tuning parameters. And I've sorted it now (I think). I've got all 6 freqs, only 5 scan successfully but I'm sure I've got all channels.
