I then started to tweak it and soon realised that changing the script had no effect. Can any one give me a clue why?

Having read the autokotkey site I still cannot figure out why changing the script has no effect - then realised I wasn't using autohotkey.exe but hd_starter.exe. So what is hd-starter.exe all about?

Hi kevin939, the HD_Starter.exe is a compiled version from the script.

the script himself does nothing (!).

If you have installed the autokotkey on your machine, then you can click with the right mouse button on your modifyed script and choose "Compile Script" in the menu.

after that you get a new .EXE - now replace the hd_starte.exe with the new one and try it again ;)

:D mophat. I will install autohotkey (on my development machine) and compile it there. Should be straight forward :D

    Hi,

Firstly - thanks for this fantastic work - I can happily play Blu Ray - woohoo

My only outstanding issue with this solution is that the first time I switch to Powerdvd it works perfectly but from that point on every time I launch the HD_starter I get a pop up window saying "An older instance of this script is already running. Replace it with this instance? Note: To avoid this message, see #SingleInstance in the help file".

It would be great if I could get rid of this pop up because it's really the only thing that makes my HTPC look like a PC!!! Search and Google don't seem to have yeilded any solutions. Any suggestions??

BTW I'm using the version of HD_Starter that MattSk88 posted to launch PowerDVD8 (HD_Starter_PowerDVD8.exe)

I have the same issue as you except that I am using the original HD_Starter.exe... the popup goes away if I press OK on my remote but I would prefer if I could get rid of it for good.

I got it up and running just fine. My microsoft MCE remote works fine (using that IMON plugin thing..) but I help to be able to close powerdvd with remote and bring back mediaportal. Mediaportal comes back if I press the media center button, but it don't close powerdvd. I would like to close powerdvd + hdstarter to free CPU of some processes.

    Off topic:

I have the same problem with my movies (use media player classic) I also would like a remote button to close it + two buttons to copy the keyboard functions of number keypad keys "9" and "1" (I use them to zoom picture a little bit because I suffer some overscan since I set media player classic to change to 1920x1080/24 hz because all my movies are X264 1080p with 23.976hz framerate) Media player classic don't "save" the last setting used.

I can close PowerDVD (the HD_Starter plugin) with my MCE. Press the button above the green button (wis in dutch) and then press quickly after that the button above the yellow button (enter).
Let me know if it works for you (and others!).

Hmm so whats the conclusion on this then? I am in the market to get a new Blu_ray player, but It has crossed my mind to integrate it with MP and use this plugin.

Does it work 100% - the GF wont be impressed if she cant just click one button and have it play!

    Any odd (non-MP) style behaviour?

I guess I could test it out using a DVD and PDVD first? as i guess DVD behaviour and Blu-Ray behaviou will be the same with the plugin?

I have it pretty much working.

I select blu ray icon from inside MP - MP minimises and PDVD opens. I havent got the disk to automatically play yet tho i have to press the enter buttin or play button.

When i want to close PDVD i press the back button on my MCE remote - PDVD closes, MP is maximised and HDstarter is shut down.

I think the only changes i made to the HDstarter.exe file (by editing the .ahk file and converting to exe) were to change the back command to browser_back (to support the MCE remote) and add a few run commands, to call some batch files, that use powerstrip to change refresh rate.

How do you guys find PowerDVD? Does it play everything as you would expect?

I think i'll be getting a new Graphics card soon which can handle blu-ray, so it would only be around £70 for a LG Blu-Ray drive on top of that (as opposed to £180 for a standalone).

I think i'll play around with the plugin a bit more. I tried it briefly yesterday. but not enough.
