Blue3++ (a 4:3 skin mod) - 0.1.3 (32 Viewers)

Hey Dadeo for your feedback!
I'm really not much of a designer myself so I'd really appreciate feedback on how people think it looks and what can be improved.
I'll just go over your feedback real quick:


1. TV Series - Could the Genre scroll left so you can see it all? Often these are long with multiple genres, Action and Adventure doesn't even fit fully.
I'm not really sure what you mean. The transition between screens (say season list and episode list) will make the fadelabel reset itself. I believe there won't be anything I can do about that.

2. TV Series - There is no title of the plugin at the top (i.e. TV Series) which is a small point I know
Already have a version with title incorparated in the design (see my last post). Will be part of 0.0.3 release

3. TV Series - On the details screen I don't like the Episode name scrolling on top of the Season Image. Could it be just above or below?
Already changed it a bit, it's now below the episode image

4. TV Series - I LOVE THE TICKERTAPE details of the episode at the bottom, Brilliant!
Thx, it's a real spacesaver! Since my screen is so tiny I really have not much room to work with

5. My Films - I don't think you need the title 3 times on the screen (list, top, below cover) I know Blue3 does this as well
6. My Films - What about using the ticker tape idea here as well to display the tech details of the film?
7. My Films - There is no Date/Time on the Details screen
8. My Films - When playing a film I love how the cover image resizes (on the Details screen) to fit the now playing box, but the box behind the image does not resize and looks odd. On the main screen, the now playing box does overlap the main image.
I haven't really started adjusting MyFilms yet but I will take your points in account when I'm getting at skinning for MyFilms

9. TV Guide - No Title, no Now Playing screen. If you use the Search button on the main TV window, the Now Playing box overlaps the data. If you select Search from the TV Guide, there is no Now Playing Screen.
I'd have to test this out myself. The HTPC I'm creating this skin for doesn't have TV card so I really should test it out on my desktop (which does have a tv card). I'll check this out and see what can be done.


I'll try updating the roadmap tonight to incorporate your points. Maybe I won't add all of them tonight cause I'll have to check some stuff to really understand what you're talking about.
Think I agree with most of your feedback so eventually you'll see a release coming out with (hopefuly all) your suggestions done

I think you are too modest about your design skills! I think you have done an excellent job cuz I have tried a bit and I don't think it is easy! I'll look forward to your new version. Just one thing about MyFilms plugin, your skin doesn't seem to work perfectly with version 4.7.9a (but a lot of skins don't). It does not open the list view when it first opens. I have to go to the menu and select a layout and then it works. Happy skinning over the holidays!

Just created a new basichome button... Contacted Harley (the user who to my knowledge created blue3) for some files to start off with. didnt have any reply so I had to do it by ways of abusing one of the buttons already there (my pictures)... took me a while but happy with the result.

It's a little to "present" beside the other buttons. I'll Try to make the color more blend.

Hmm too bad I already merged some layers. Can't really do anything to the plus sign anymore, but hey it's blue3++, you´ll have to live with some of my plus signs

TV Series in Blue3++ 0.0.3.1

Hey Joz. thanks for the Christmas present! I just managed to download and install the latest MP 1.0. I did a clean install, then I installed MP-TVSeries-2.0.3279 (SVN) (the latest version). Then I installed your Blue+++ skin, (Blue3++ 0.0.3.1). I will slowly test what I can. I really only use TV series, My Films, TV and sometimes Music. I haven't used fanart yet (one step at a time!) I am using Vista Ultimate SP1.

So let's start with TV Series. The main screen looks like the one in your screenshots, but the episode screen is all off. See my attached screenshot. What have I done wrong? Was I supposed to turn on some option in TV Series Config?

Once we sort this out, can you post some My Films screenshots so I can compare with mine? Thanks a lot.

I released it with a couple of new tvseries bugs. Discovered this after release, there'll be a new one shortly.
The thing I see in your screenshot that is seriously wrong is the small dvd cover. It just sits next to the episode image on my tv but your's it's way much to the left. Have to check this out (could you maybe tell me tour screen resolution? So I can test it with the res. nvm, it's saying it under your screenies)

The rest of them are known bugs:
- First aired overlayed by episode title. The first aired will be remove completely upon next released (atleast from the listcontrol)
- The big title of the episode has to go a little to the right, already fixed for next release.

As by request some MyFilms screens.
MyFilms seems to work pretty good for me. Didn't notice anything that's off. Just use it to browse my DVD collection, don't really play movies from MyFilms. Although I do see some design issues. Will try to make a new list considering 0.0.4 - MyFilms release (MyFilms changes)

New release out fixing mostly tvseries issues

Just one thing about MyFilms plugin, your skin doesn't seem to work perfectly with version 4.7.9a (but a lot of skins don't). It does not open the list view when it first opens. I have to go to the menu and select a layout and then it works.

Don't have this with my setup (MyFilms 4.7.9a), have you set a "Default xml file" in MyFilms config (the default catalog it should open)

Added Dadeo's MyFilms suggestions to be part of 0.0.4 release. 0.0.4 will be dedicated mostly to MyFilms (some minor tvseries bugs will be resolved too), so if you have any more suggestions, I say keep 'em coming!

Wrong episod view

I have a strange episode view in TVSeries, may be something wrong with TVSeries conf. Could you please take a look to the attached screenshot? I'm using Blue3++ 0.0.3.2 beta and TVSeries 2.0.3279 (SVN)
