What do you guys think of this quick test.
If I put something like this in there it will look better more stuff rotating and of course just test buttos for now. Just a quick test to see what you guys think of this.

I like it, but then I am not a fan of the usual layout of basic home screen! I assume the buttons would not overly "MediaPortal" since this is just a quick test.

Nope the buttons won't overlay, I'll make the image rotate too as well as maybe the weather or maybe even the ticker?

Why do you not use our homepage for upload the skin.
We have for that the skin download section. No need for use ther something like google.

I don't know why this is so frowned upon or something. SVN is handy and Google code is just real easy to use.
Never gotten around to setting up my own online SVN repository (I run a home server) and this is a real good alternative to scourceforge which I find could be better.
It's also because I wanna learn. It's a handy way of collaberating.
And I guess if you wanted the designers for mediaportal to do stuff a certain way then there should be more clearity about the whole ordeal.

As I understand it, this skin is still in beta (since I am still testing it! and I don't think it should be in the repository yet! But when it is ready then I think it should be. I'd like to thank Joz for taking the time to try and iron out all the bugs before posting it in the repository! He's really doing a thorough job!

I am a big supporter of the repository, because for new users it is the easiest way to download skins and plugins. More and more skins and plugins seemed to be released in the forums and not in the repository (like StreamedMP, Mediastream, etc.) and I think that makes it more difficult for users to see all the skins available. (Possibly they have been submitted but haven't made it in the repository yet! I'm not criticizing the excellent work of those developers)

However, the repository needs work as it is currently too difficult to see which skins/plugins support MP 1.0 (or other versions). Often the data in the repository does not even tell you which version of MP the skin/plugin supports or which plugins they support.

There is also an excellent section in the Wiki listing all the skins with a bit more data, and screen shots all on one page. Extensions-Skins - MediaPortal Manual Documentation I am sure when this skin is done, it will be there as well!

Hey all,

I'd really appreciate some more feedback from the community. Dadeo's already doing a real thorough job testing my skinning! But of course he can miss something too. I created a new general google group so if you just want to ask something that's the right place (or if you're not sure it's a bug / issue because you can't test it on other skins).
The 0.1.3 has some known bugs so please take a look at the issue tracker or the SVNChanges before posting to see if it's not already discussed.

Hi,
just wanted to test your skin, but right after installation MP crashes. I think it's the same issue as reported here:
Issue 14 - blue3-plus-plus - Crash on Loading MP after Installing skin - Google Code

Any news regardins this, or is there a workaround?

Hey Moh, I'm still working on it. Can you give me some details to help? What size is your screen? Are you using the ATI Radeon X300 SE card? I have Nvidia and thought it might be my drivers.

For me, if I just start MP again with Blue3++ it works fine. It's only the first time it tries to write the fonts to cache that it crashes. As long as you don't change screens, or window sizes it should be fine. Otherwise, you can edit the fonts.xml and change the height of font48 to 44. That works for me.

I have posted a bug report on this as well, but no answers so far! So any further info you can provide would be very helpful so this can be fixed for the next release.

Hi Dadeo,
I didn't test the skin on my HTPC - I did it on my all-day desktop system. It's an average system powered by Intel CPU, a nVidia 6600GT an a TFT running at 1280x1024.
Simply restarting MP has no effect. I'll try to change the font size, let's see if that works - I'll post the result here!

If you need some more information just ask, I can do some tests....
