C# Express lacks the Microsoft installer engine. That one is needed to get the service installed and is part of the project. So it's not possible to build it with C# Express. (Build is possible but you can't get an installer to register the service, etc.)
I'm a developer with quite a few years experience, but not much experience with C# and Visual Studio. C# is not too difficult, as is the .NET framework, but just getting my head around the way the ide works is taking a little while. But I have managed to get Media Portla compiling, created a plugin, and more importantly added it to the Media Portal solution (at least on my machine) and PostBuild.Bat, that allows me to debug. so I'm getting there!!

So, hopefully this will be the last one. I've identified the missing Perl libraries (3 files). Here is the 5th iteration : newzap2xml_5.exe with the missing libraries. Put all 4 files in the same directory/folder !!!
Disable the Perl environment (rename Perl folder) on your computer, the newzap2xml_5.exe should run with the 3 library...
