I know that a new tv engine is in the works and that it will get cable card support but i was wondering if there was anyway to currently do it with MediaPortal 2. I have no problem help testing anything.
Curious if Alpha 4 incorporated this into the new TVE3.5 engine, or if this is getting closer to reality. The functionality in MP1 is working good and can't wait to be able to use in conjunction with the new generation of MP.
Unfortunately the answer to your question is no, not yet... but I'm actually working on it as I type this message.
Also, you can use TVE 3 (ie. MP1 TV Server) with MP2.

Hauppauge card retired long ago. I have also retired very early SD units, the Quatros seem to work much better than the older units.

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo.
