I did find another bug.
I have set Mediaportal to be always on top.
At 19:30 windows task sheduler starts webgrab+plus (dos command window) to fetch epg data from the web.
The command window however is on top of mediaportal, as if i dont have always on top activated.
Log attached (nothing in error.log).

Hello! I have tested the version 18a on my system with a "Intel(R) Q965/Q963 Express chipset family" (not a powerful I know ). When I start Mediaportal, I get a popUp error: "Direct3D device could not be created." and after clicking OK Mediaportal dies of course

I have done some tests and had some problems if the TVService wasnt available (Client only Installation and no WakeonLAN enabled).
Wouldnt it be better to check if the Host where the TVService is running on is available and if not, just do nothing if no WakeonLAN is enabled? Additionally i got the same problem as radical...screenslector isnt working
I attached the logs...if you need more information please tell me.

I did some tests on my production htpc.
I have mentioned that the pc goes to standby while navigating in the gui with no media playing.
PowerScheduler is configured to send the pc to sleep after 3 minutes with no action.
With this build navigating with the remote seems not to be recognized as action.

I think I have found the problem:

[2013-04-11 20:58:01,866] [15897  ] [MPMain  ] [ERROR] - PluginManager: 'PowerSchedulerClientPlugin, Version=1.3.0.45, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is tagged as incompatible with the current MediaPortal version and won't be loaded!

There are also another plugin marked as incompatible in the log:
ExternalPlayers

In the configuration the following plugins are shown as incompatible:

• WinAmp
• iTunes
• PowerScheduler

I don't know if this is a problem:

One other thing:
I have configured the TV-Server PowerScheduler plugin to prevent standby when Chrome is running.
Now, when I'm pressing standby while chrome is running the screen goes black. (Awaymode?)
After pressing standby again the picture comes back. But now the PC is muted.

Configuration is working now for me.
But I see a other problem. For me It's not possible to start MP on secondary screen.
After splashscreen it's switch from secondary to primary screen.

I see. Could be the above one. Will add some more logging to the screen selector for build 18b, so I can find out exactly why the other display is not used.

But I found another problem.
Sometimes mediaportal comes up at fullscreen but with no audio, after standby.

That is because the HDMI audio renderer gets disconnected.

Do you have skin sounds enabled or disabled? Can you please try with both settings?

Could you try to insert a delay between turning on the TV and MP?

Can you try to disable any other sound output devices or do NOT select the Default Direct Sound device?

My system starts sometimes with live tv in fullscreen mode
and sometimes at basic home.
What should it normally do?

Do you use show last active module?

Can you put any other window before MP when it runs? Want to check if always-on-top is broken in some regards or if this is a special case. Always on Top is not really an always on Top in a WinForm. Windows is allowed to steal focus and overlay it. Will try withe the task scheduler open cmd and see what is happening here.

Nothing special in the logs beside that the device could not be created (followed by an exception later because of this). The recent code change by @tourettes in master was to create a PURE device. That could fail in your setup. Strange that it does though. Do you have Aero or something disabled or any special settings in Win8 regarding to the GPU? Can you give me the exact specs of your mainboard and GPU?

Will add a small loop that goes through PURE, HARDWARE_VERTEX and SOFTWARE. We then see what is used on your system. I assume that the integrated GPU is simply not capable of a PURE device, but HARDWARE_VERTEX should work. Not going to check capabilities here. Try and error is enough. Let's try that first with 18b.

The difference in PURE and HARDWARE is minor and depends on the supported DirectX 9 capabilites. Such problems go away once we switched to DX11 anyway.

Do you mean you don't use TV? And what problems exactly show up?
