I found another issue... The windows screensaver is not working if "keep mediaportal always on top" is enabled. Can someone else confirm this or should this be the expected behaviour?
Interesting one. Should not be the case. The always on top is a WinForm feature. MP does not do anything specific to it. MP only prevents the screen saver from kicking in when you are playing some movie or watching a slide show.

Again, could be some PS/PS++ issues. Please disable PowerScheduler when trying to reproduce the issue to make sure where it is coming from.

    PS++ and away mode:

This plugin deals with the away mode. I have mentioned some problems with this. It is again regarding the muting thing that I had wit the legacy PS but it differs a little. @michael_t should have a look at this. Should we discuss this in the PS++ thread or here?
Is there any possibility that hitting the power button while a recording is active could turn off the PC ? If so, can this be prevented within MP and within Windows? Is the documentation clear on how to do this?
No, it is not. With this build and PS++ it is not possible to switch of the pc just by pressing the power button while a recording is ongoing. I haven't tried to press it until the hard switch off will rise but I think that this would not be a valid testcase ...
Some questions (and answers) from my side:
    • What are the problems / the muting thing that you mention?
As far as I know, keeping audio unmuted after return from away mode / sleep mode is a problem of windows resp. some audio drivers. It has nothing to do with MP or PS(++). But: PS++ provides a workaround for these problems; it unmutes the audio master volume on return from away mode / sleep mode if it was unmuted before. It is worth thinking about, if this workaround should become part of the MP core...
    • Why is there a discussion if you can turn off the pc while a recording is running?
If the power button is mapped to shutdown (not the BIOS 4 seconds hard power off function but windows shutdown) or hibernate in the Windows power settings, there is no way any program could prevent this, if the button is pressed. Only with Vista and up and if the power button is mapped to (hybrid) sleep, programs requiring the PC to keep running (e.g. the MP TV service when recording) can request it to go to away mode instead of sleep, if the power button is pressed. Same counts for lid closing and the power off icon on the desktop; for remote controls it depends on how they are integrated into Windows (if they are seen as HID the on/off button is like the power button). PS (the original one!) handles away mode in this sense since MP 1.2.x. But documentation may be incomplete...
    • What do all these things have to do with PS++?
This is a thread for testing the 1.4.0 test builds. If you experience PS problems, then these cannot be caused by 1.4 changes, since (at least to my knowledge) there were no changes to PS since 1.2.x. If you experience PS++ problems, please post them in the PS++ thread.

No PS installed on my Laptop (Client only). Couldnt test it on my productive or desktop system. Will do that later when i am at home.
I see that the screensaver want to get in front as there is a small flickering after the configured waiting time but thats not working so MP stays on top.

    The screensaver issue:
I have tested again with the "Leer" screensaver from windows and one additional one that comes with windows. With these everything was fine. They do proper start and they are ended with the remote.
I'm using a hdmi-cec to usb device that makes it possible to use my TV-Remote with the htpc without the need of a ir-sensor within the pc. This remote does not stop the 3rd party screensaver. But this might be related to this special screensaver.
I did some additional testing with MePo always on top. I can confirm that with this setting the screensaver does not work. I have tested the "Leer" screensaver and another inbuilt windows screensaver. Both were the same. I have seen a very short time where the screen was going black when the screensavers wanted to start.

    Wakeup/resume:
Isn't that exactly what people want? Not to terminate the recording. How does it work different without my builds? Did I break something?
It works exactly as it should from my point of view. You did not break anything.[DOUBLEPOST=1366023707][/DOUBLEPOST]

Perhaps I wrote a little misunderstanding. Everything with standby/resume works very fine. I will explain the muting issue in the PS++ thread.

I have also tested the screensaver with always on top and the PS++ plugins (client, server) disabled. I have restarted the TV-Server after disabling the plugin.
The behavior is the same. The screensaver is not shown.

Thanks a lot for confirming. It is the same on stock 1.3.0? If not I made always on top working too well :)

Within stock 1.30 the screensaver did not work or am I wrong?

I actually don't know. That's why I am asking someone to confirm.

MSDN did not tell me what happens when multiple full screen forms use always on top.

And as I am currently in the office I cannot try.
