    @Scythe42:
A wish from my site: Is it possible to merge this to your next Testbuild?
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/option-to-disable-stop-live-tv-dialog.116503/#post-965178
It seems to be ready for me and I would like to test your new features and this one together.
When it is in master it will be also in my next build afterwards. Not including any special patches here that are not related to my work.

My HDMI-CEC device has some nice features regarding switching off the TV-set or changing the sources and I would like to test together with TV switching off in MePo.

Do you think that this is possible?
HDMI-CEC device support will come, but not with version 1.4.0. In the meantime make use of Event Ghost and Event GhostPlus Plugin MP for all your automation needs.

I personally use EventGhost exclusively for controlling MP. Meaning MP itself does not do anything with the remote. Beginning with starting MP with the Green Button up to controlling input devices, light and other devices at my last apartment combined with bluebooth presence mode when I come home at night showing me latest media, private emails and other stuff. Anything possible if you take the time for it.

The two fixes are entirely separate. Sorry, but the purpose of this thread is to get the fixes tested, rather than to provide build for users. All building instructions are in the wiki, so you could possibly make your own build with both branches included. Once you get used to doing this, it is actually quite easy.

What we need right now with this branch is a period of testing, consolidation and then we have a chance to get it into a release version of MP. Adding new stuff at this stage really isn't a good idea.

I thought that I will here this, but it was worth a try ;-)

...The same is true for my power switch on the htpc case. Yes, I set it to hibernate (all my power switches do the same thing here) and still I want MP to interrupt me (or my wife ;-) if there is a recording going on.
...and exactly this cannot be done by any software in the world if the user action is mapped to hibernate (or shutdown). Only user actions mapped to sleep can be prevented by requesting away mode. It makes no sense to discuss this over and over...

Wrong: You can set the system to go to AwayMode instead of suspending. Try PowerScheduler++ ;-) (First, I claim the prize of doing something impossible ;-).

    Up Next: Reading course ;-)

That might be true, but for all those that use Sleep Mode (I guess these are quite a lot) - for them it works perfect. The power button on the htpc "turns off" the htpc (sleep) when it is not recording. Otherwise it will continue recording until finished and go to sleep afterwards.

@michael_t: Windows 8 only has the Energy Save mode in normal configuration. It works there.

Only thing we cannot do from an OS would be the 4-Second Power Button push that is hardwired into ACPI without patching BIOS/UEFI.

But we can deal with ACPI state changes and even seeing and overriding them. That Windows does not provide an API for something does not mean we cannot deal with it.

There are a lot of capabilities when you enter Kernel Mode programming as well. The device driver development kits are full of goodies.

But that is way off-topic here.
