I'm using a newer version of handbrake (0.94) than shown in those screen shots. I've tried everything I can but "handbrakecli.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" after sitting on a blank dos window for 4 or 5 minutes.

In the Video Codec I don't have xVid, only x264 and FFmpeg, and I've tried both. Apart from that, I've set all the same options as shown in the screen shots.

I don't have any problem with TV3 recordings, which makes me think it has to be the AAC_LATM audio track causing the problem, as that is the only difference. I've just tried a C4 and a TV2 recording with the same crash.

The Monogram LATM filter is obviously installed, as well as an Elecard LATM filter, but I don't think Handbrake is using either of them.

    Any further ideas? Thanks.

I just tried the Normal preset - crashed. I normally use the High Profile preset.

I mentioned I tried 2 programs, one from C4 and another from TV2. I've tried about 6 other programs from TV1 and TV2, all crashing. They all play perfectly in media players and MediaPortal with no video or audio glitches. I've reencoded about 8 programs from TV3 with no problems at all.

** I tried just now encoding a TV2 program with no audio track selected in the Audio tab, and it started encoding! So it's definately the AAC_LATM audio track causing the problem here. But what do I need to do to fix it? That is the question. I may have to try the Handbrake forum again now to see if anyone else has come across this.

By default i think handbrake has some kinda auto detection for audio
disable this and enter all the audio details in manually.
    try audiotype:AAC or audiotype:MP3

I've tried all possible combinations in the audio tab over the last few days with no luck.

    FYI - I use handbrake 0.9.3 - build 2008112300

This is not the latest version, could be a bug in the latest version perhaps.
Also my recordings are made on a computer using MP1.1+SVN + XP Pro SP3
The machine i'm encoding on is, VISTA / HD4850

I couldn't get playback of the HE-AAC tracks to work on my main PC, Windows 7. Despite registering the Monogram AAC codec I just can't get anything to recognise it.

In the end I used VLC which doesn't use any installed codecs, to convert all the HE-AAC audio. If you have a look at posts under my name you will find the batch file that I am automatically calling at the end of each recording to convert the audio tracks. Takes just over a minute a gig to convert and isn't noticable when using MP.

This leaves me with AC3/H264 format which I can work with on a number of programs to reencode etc. You can obviously use VLC to reencode as well if you want.

    Matt.

Hey guys..... I still reckon it's about high time we got ourselves a little Auckland MP user get together..... At least before the summer is over?

I could host but setup is nowhere near as flash as some of the others out there and we should start off with a bang I say!

And to all those not in Auckland why not sort one out in your area?

    Hi team,

I had the recording table in the MySql database crash nad become unusable. I could still record, but nothing showed in the Recorded TV listings.

I tried backing up and reinstalling etc and lost my way a bit. Then I tried "Repair Table Recording" in a MySQL Query and the table fixed itself.

However the next time when restarted the HTPC I could not get TVService to start. Bu66er!

I Uninstalled/Reinstalled and got everything going again; except I could not go into the extended options in the TV Server Configuration.

Where do I go to reset the flag that presents all the extra bits in the TV Server?

I have some recordings in the recordsing directory which are not in the repaired database table. I can use the import funtion to bring these up to date.

    Cheers
    Bernard
