with 2 tuners I can only watch or record 2 channels at once and of course the minister of internal affairs wants to record 3 programs at once. The other problem is that with back to back recordings it will cut the end off the first to start the 2nd one ... very annoying.
The very reason I just purchased a 2nd TV PCI-E card which arrived last week from the UK. I now have 4 DVB-T tuners, and 2 DVB-S2 tuners if I should ever need them. Now we can record all the freeview channels simultaneously while listening to FM radio. I guess the hard drive might get rather busy though.:)

It is my understanding (very possibly wrong - I could be confused with mythtv) that MP locks a mux to a tuner (dvb-s) so this means that all channels on that mux can be recorded at the same time using that 1 tuner.

Secondly there are 3 muxes for dvb-s? four if you include sbs etc?

That's about it (as I understand it too) except I thought there were only 3 mux's which is why it pays to have 3 x DVB-S tuners just in case you need to record everything at once! :D I only have 2 tuners so if I'm recording 2 NZ channels which are on different mux's I can't record SBS. SBS isn't that important to me though so I'm happy enough :)

Rainy day = upgrading my HTPC & clients from MP 1.2 Alpha to Final today - all seems to have gone fine and was very quick and easy, not like the "old days" :D

Aussie - this is on the verticle? twin lnb's required to record view sbs and nz tv?
and for some reason I thought Kordia had a mux in operation or is that tv3 ....

So realistically if I want to be able to record/view all channels I would want to have 3 dvb-s tuners, and a twin lnb. And to have more chance of a bullet proof setup that may be recording and watching several channels at once Should I have the recording storage and the live tv buffer on different hdds?

If I set up for worst case senario then I will have much WAF apart from the cost (But she is never happy about me spending money on computers)

I haven't looked at this stuff in ages but I think Kordia is TV3 (?)

Yep - I was going to set up a twin lnb but then people who know more than me here are saying that SBS may not be available for that long so I decided not to - be keen to hear how you get on if you go ahead with it though..

That's definitely the recommended way to go.

    Hey mm,

Any idea why MP Server Config won't import ts files sitting in the Recorded TV folder?

I'll tell you what happened. After I installed a new TV card a week ago, all recordings from this card were inadvertantly being stored on the C drive where I have little room. I've always used the D drive for storage. It ran out of space today while recording a couple of shows I have since had to delete. I found the problem in the config and changed the storage folder for the 2 tuners.

I then moved over a few dozen recorded shows from the C drive to the proper D drive folder. But none of these recordings will import. I did select to remove invalid entries and it removed the items that had been recorded to the C drive, but it won't find them on the D drive.

This is with MP 1.2.0 final.

    Any ideas?

You can't import the TS files without the XML files that were created with the recordings.

    hi there,

After weeks of installing and testing mp have it running pretty well but am totally struggling with using using my hauppauge blaster to change the sky channel and really need help please. When I use tv3 blaster plug in for ir server I can get it to change the channel when I test it and I have combined an analogue channel with each sky channel and the sky channel is set for epg only but all I get is the channel that sky is on already when I preview. The instructions on wiki have rather a lot of holes and I am really happy once I have it working to be involved in writing some new ones. Can anyone tell what I have missed?

Darn - I was meant to look into that card support issue for you wasn't I? :sorry:
Right, on my TODO list for this evening now...

Regarding blasting: if "test" works then you're basically almost there. There are pretty good instructions for setting up a blaster setup -->here<--. Are those the ones you've been following? At a guess I'd say the bit that is missing is the "per tuner" bit as per the image -->here<--.

I remember seeing XML files being created in earlier versions of MP but there are only some XML files for programs recorded over 18 months ago in the Recorded TV folder. Is the creation of XML files optional and now disabled by default?
