Cheers, I think I'm nearly there. My version of the TV3 Blaster plugin is older than yours and the interface looks slightly different, do you know where I can get the same vaersion as you? Thanks for the help.

hey guys,

well I took the plunge and have media portal working with 2 nova S2 satellite cards = it's great! The EPG is really useful and the picture looks good.

A question or two I was hoping someone might be able to answer:

This is my current system:
2800+ AMD Sempron
1gig ram
80gig 7200rpm WD hdd
2x NOVAS2 satellite cards

Now when I'm recording TV and change channels (so viewing TV with the other card) there is a noticeable 'judder' (just after the initial channel change) that affects both the on-screen viewing and the recording (ie the recording gets a judder as well...it's like it skips half a second ahead or so) - is this due to RAM, processor, or having the timeshifting & recording folders on the same HDD? Has anyone else had similar issues?

And on another matter, is it possible to get a driver for the MS remote keyboard for windows media center so it works in WinXP pro?

Thanks guys :)

Re: MCE Keyboard I think you need this it says for MCE 2005 but it will install and work on xp (I have a mce remote and keyboard I use with XP Pro SP2):

As for the stutter problem I've not had experience with those cards but check out what different drivers are available, if there is a BDA driver make sure you're using it. Oh btw what are you using TV3 (tvserver) or the built-in TV functionality of media portal? I'd strongly recommend TV server :)

Hey thanks for that! I hadn't seen your post when I did the post above :)

yep using TVserver - it's great. Haven't quite got it talking to any other clients other than the one it's on (which is fine for now, that's the main machine I want to view on!) I'm not sure what a BDA driver is compared to the drivers available on the Hauppauge website?

Next task will be setting up power scheduler and comskip!

    Hi Guys,

Thought I should say how's it going!
Just switched over to Media Portal from BeyondTV - have been in the PVR game for many years and finally got myself a Hauppy Nova-S-plus for Freeview. BeyondTV have given up on any DVB-S based support so they have lost my business.

And I am quite glad! I think this package is far superiour and the best part is it's free!

My rig is an AMD XP2000+
    1GB DDR
    80GB Seagate 5400RPM
    100GB WD 7200RPM
    1x Hauppy PVR150
    1x Hauppy Nova-S-plus

150 is hooked to TelstraClear cable decoder.
Nova is hooked to a Sky dual-LNB dish.

Sadly my video card is a Matrox G400, and as Media Portal is based on DX9 I need to change.

Still in the setup/testing stage, hence running into the DX9 issue with the OSD and video.

It worked 'ok' with the PVR150. Menu responsiveness was a tad behind, but it worked happily.

Just got the Nova-S and thats when the issue came up. Recording would grab the first and last second and black screen the inbetween. The UI and OSD would flicker white while watching Freeview as well.

Had a FX5200 sitting at work which was to be biffed, so snaffled it up.
Just been testing and all is fine!

Now to fine tune and get xmlTVNZ up and running.

Yeah I've got a FX5200, it must be the cheapest DX9 card around but it does the trick. My network client (Toshiba A70 laptop) only has dx8.1 and it's just not as snappy.

You can get the EPG from the sky dvb-s channels (even though they are encrypted; the EPG data is not) then you can combine the sky channels with the analog channels; make the analog card higher priority.

You mentioned that you use your PVR-150 with telstra cable, which got me thinking - dose anyone use a DVB-C card with telstra cable? It would be a much sweeter solution, since you get benefits such as recording multiple channels at once. :)
