    Na not unless you have a DVB-S card with a CI slot And a Irdeto CAM in the CI slot And a SIM card in the CAM! Then you can get SBS and 7C; See my setup

    TV-Server ... network clients?

    Hey guys,

    I've installed TV-server on one machine and I've had no problems getting MyTV to work on that machine. I'm now trying to get a network client to work - without much success :(

    For my testing I've turned off any software firewalls.

    I am still running a firewall on my netgear dg384g - but adding firewall services to it doesn't change anything, and I don't think it's blocking anything on the local network anyway.

    Installed MP+TVserver plugin on 2nd machine as per MP documentation. In MP configuration/mytv plugin, put the correct IP address in. Started Media Portal, went to MyTV and got EPG data (just for the currently playing programs, not for any in the future) and no TV. If I click 'Turn TV on' it does nothing.

    I tested the streaming using VLC - http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/TV-Engine_0.3/troubleshooting-streamtest
    This works fine!

    Any ideas? I'm using TVEngine dated 8-4-2007 - upgrade to the latest version?

    ** Update 5 minutes later **

    bah I'm a fool...reinstalled Media Portal on the network client and it works fine now - I think I forgot to install the MP snapshot (duh)

    does anybody here know if it's possible to control sky digital with the microsoft MCE remote, i'm just about to have it installed at the new place, and it's the one thing i never managed to figure out at my old house.

    3 remotes is annoying, especially when one is the tv remote, just to switch AV's

    Rather than control the sky digital box with the MCE remote you need to control mediaportal with the MCE remote and then set mediaportal up to control the skydigital box which is plugged in to your TV card. I've never done it (I don't have sky) but you need to use the infrared blasters that came with your MCE remote. I'm sure this is the configuration that most people use. That way all the sky channels become channels that mediaprotal can tune use (watch/record).

    Is anyone else having problems with Sky EPG data from DVB-S? My freeview channels are still coming through but all Sky ones are empty as of 11am Sunday...

    nope mine are fine. If you try to timeshift a sky channel to do you get a "Channels is Scrambled" message if so then the channels are working fine if you get "No audio/video detected" then there is a problem.

    I think they shut the vertical transponders down, you need to rescan for the horizontal ones.

    You need a tpl file with this for TV2

    satname=Sky TV on Optus B1 (160E)
    12394,h,22500
    12421,h,22500
    12456,h,22500
    12483,h,22500
    12519,h,22500
    12546,h,22500
    12581,h,22500
    12608,h,22500
    12644,h,22500
    12671,h,22500
    12707,h,22500
    12734,h,22500

    TV3 server ini file [untested]

    [SATTYPE]
    1=1600
    2=Optus B1,D1

    [DVB]
    0=12
    1=12394,h,22500

    3=12456,h,22500
    4=12483,h,22500
    5=12519,h,22500
    6=12546,h,22500

    zxcvbnm2: Thanks for that TVE3 ini file data. Using those setting, the SKY EPG is coming in fine now for me also. Perfect result.

    Cheers Mike

    Wow! I have just run through all of the posts in this thread and have to say its a great source of information. About to embark on a TV3 install (single seat) using a Haupauge HVR3000 for DVB-S and ATI 550Pro for Sky via S-Video. Wish me luck!
