OK I have pretty much got everything going. The one thing I am having trouble with is getting the STB channels to work. I have tried creating a replica channel on the analog capture card with the correct channel and compineing it with the same channel from the Sky EPG on the DVB-S card and if I select the channel in the guaide it changes to the s-video input but it doesnt blast the channel to the STB.
For instance Alt TV is the first channel in the list (in my guide). I have created a analog channel (65) and combined it with AltTV on the DVB-S. If I select it it shows as channel 1 and changes the input to the STB but thats it.
I have setup serverblaster and the tests work fine?? I'll have a look at the doco for server blaster and see if I'm missing anything.
I've never used the blaster but have you used the learn tool to learn the commands of your remote? and have you enabled the plug-in in the plug-in section of TVServer and configured it. I think I head someone say that you have to have it on fast mode. And most importantly when you change channels do you see the blaster flash red? Also do you have the blaster right up against the receiver on the STB?
I just installed the latest TVE3 SVN build 15960 and things did not go that well. When starting the config program, and selecting TV Channels, the list of channels previously selected did not appear. So I tried rescanning D1 but the program only scanned one transponder and then just stops. In previous builds, the scan continues down the transponder list until its done. I have reinstalled Build 15668 and that is currently scanning normally.
It looks like there have been perhaps some dependencies in these later builds that I am not aware of. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
I think the reason your channels disappeared is because the database structure changed and the entire database has to be rebuilt from scratch :-( i.e. you loose all settings and channels etc.
One thing you can do (and I do everytime I upgrade ) is to use the export option under the TV Channels section. This exports all channels and recording schedules to an xml file that can be imported again after the database has been re-created.
I've not see the scanning problem though, thats a bit strange.
OK thanks, I will try that approach and see if it helps - appreciate the feedback.
Cheers Mike
Me again, one thing I did notice after installing build 15960 was that an dialog appeared advising that the database could not be converted. Perhaps that is what is causing the problem. I have reinstalled v2.3 RC2 with the inbuilt TV Engine v2 and that is working correctly.
I also used 15960 and had no issues getting all channels - including the sky ones for EPG purposes. Although it was a freash install and not a upgrade.
PS are you using sky via analog by chance Mike?
Here is a copy of my .ini file if that helps at all.
OK well TVE3 Build 15960 definitely has a problem on my setup. On starting the Config program and then selecting TV Channels the display does not update to reflect what should be on screen with that option selected. The error log shows the following:

So I guess its not converting the database. The database file I have is TVDatabasev21.db3. Any thoughts?
PS I can see the refernece to the missing columns above which may be the clue. Does anyone know what the attributes of those columns should be and I will create them manually?
alright, i've tried getting sky to work via media portal and so far i haven't had much success (although the internet has only just been connected today so that might change things.)
from what i've gathered so far though, to get sky digital and free view channels to work via media portal i'm going to need to get another DVB-S card.
at the moment though i'd be happy if i could just get sky to work via media portal (cause man sky has one ugly interface now that i've had MP experience) and freeview can wait for a week whilst i scrape some coin together.
my question is for sky to work via media portal should i just take the cable from the RF out (in the sky decoder) and attach that to the DVB-S input of the hauppauge (the rf out is a standard analogue socket, so i would have to chop off the other end of the cable and put on an h-type connector). So far i've tried taking the cable from RF out to Analogue and had 0 success scanning channels.
Ok I created the two missing columns I had in the database by hand and that has made an improvement. Now the channels appear normally when I select TV Channels.
Geekiegeek, I use a DVB-S card for everything now and I have the tuning parameters, but thanks for responding with them. I am sure my problem was the failure to update the database with the new structure as Mcraenz suggested.
Now to get the client working again. What caused me to upgrade was the lack of EPG. My EPG was being loaded normally until yesterday when it just stopped.
