I also using single seat setup. MP and server on same pc. When i use My TV in MP i can see the tv guide but when trying to play a channel MP does nothing.
I have uninstalled MP and TV Server (deleted all folders) and re-installed. Still same result.
Might have to go back to MP setup only

Do the following:
1.Start>All Programs>MediaPortal>TV Server Logs
2.Start mediaportal tv Server config
3.Select TV Channels on the treee
4.Go to the window that shows the log files delete the tv.log file
5.in the TV Server config seect a channel and click preview
6. Attach the newly created tv.log to you next post. I'm sure then we'll be able to see what the problem is

Also what Codecs do you hace installed? you can find out by looking in MediaPortal Config under direct show filters.

Thanks for that. I don't really understand some of it yet but if i read it enough times it may sink in

can i conect my old school VCR to the s-video in on my Hauppauge nova s-plus and tune that in TV engine 3 server. I need Prime at 7.30pm Sunday for Top Gear if so how?

i can't see a way of adding an analogue input.

I've also discovered that i can only record and watch from the same transponder so having an analogue input will give me the ability to watch and record all stations.

i know i won't get any EPG but i can live with that for just one channel.

I'm not sure about using the analog input on the nova-s plus. It would only be a software input, that is, the CPU would have to do the MPEG2 encoding; this is a bad thing! In an ideal would I would suggest getting a Hauppauge PVR-150 hardware MPEG2 card for analog (about $130 I think) And yes you can have EPG! I'm not really too worried about recording from s-video input but as long a can watch that would be a start.

I can record in dvb-s from other channels but theres no Prime on freeview yet. soi would like to watch Prime with or without time shifting and also if i want to record from one transponder i can't watch the other, so this would free this up.

I dont want to connect to the internet with this HTPC. Leaner meaner and safer. so happy with dvb-s EPG at moment. Thanks though.

I should be able to connect my VCR the same as a STB shouldn't I??? but where do i set that up in the server?

Sorry to interrupt this question with another...

BUT...

I've just changed from MCE '05 to Media Portal with 2 x DVB-S cards and 1x PVR150 for Prime. It's all good (I don't regret changing over from MCE) but I can't get the EPG for Prime to show correctly (DVB-S EPG guide is sweet)

I use XMLTVNZ for Prime (V 2.5.0.3) but for some reason the timing is a day out - yesterdays shows are listed today :-(

I've tried using the timezone compensation feature in TVServer (+12) but that didn't change anything + I've run all sorts of different BAT files, including:

xmlTVNZ.exe tvguide.xml -seconds -offset +1200 -noicons prime >log.txt

Nothing I do, either in the BAT file or in TVServer time compensation makes the Prime guide "shift" one way or another..

I've had a good read through this thread (it's the longest I've ever come accross!) and couldn't see an answer plus I've asked the same question on Revens site. He said it should be fine with the above BAT file settings so I thought maybe someone here may have come accross the same problem or might have an idea what's going on...

I'm running TVServer/0.2.3.0 RC1 on a homebuilt MCE'05 HTPC which had no problems with the xmltvnz epg...

yesdup: have you got 2 separate devices in tvserver a DVB-S and an analog? If so you should be able to manually create an analog channel set the input to s-video and map the channel to a the analog device

I've attached my last grab with xmltvnz which imports correctly for me when I have the time zone compensation enabled but with 0 0 in the fields. Also what is your windows time zone set to? is it correct (+1200)?

Hey Rhys thanks for taking the time to attach your xml file - unfortunately I came up with the same result - yesterdays prgrammes are listed today.. My systems time zone setting are correct - Auckland/Wellington +1200

This has got me stumped - I did all sorts of registry hacks to get things working in MCE (multiple tuners/bladerunner etc) but nothing that should effect a straight feed from an xml file into Media Portal. A problem this basic shouldn't be so hard to fix... right??

I'm open to any suggestions at this point Trash my HTPC?? By a VCR?? Tell the kids the can't watch TV ever again?? Yeah Right!!

hmm well you cold try importing in to standalone mediaportal tv engine just to see what happens. Also you could get sql management studio express (assuming you're using MSSQL, some other gui for MYSQL) and have a look in the database table that holds the programs and see what it looks like. I'm assuming also that you're doing a refresh EPG each time you try something new right? Coz the data doesn't get overwritten each time you import. Also have you tried to completely blow away your tv server install. i.e. uninstall, delete dir from prog files, delete database and start from scratch? Certainly is a strange one.
