Thanks for those links - I'm running MCE '05 Rollup 2 so do I still need them? I know there was a patch required for XP (not sure if that's one of the links you've given me) but I didn't think it was needed for MCE? Should I apply those patches anyway??

No I don't you need them then.

Re: BDA Drivers - just on one card - which is second in the priority list. Should I go the opposite way to what I was thinking and have BDA drivers on both cards - or will that just give me twice as many BSOD eppisodes??

I've never run 2 SS2s and I don't know if it will work but personally the first thing I'd do is run BDA driver for both cards. I don't think you can do it the other way around i.e. run 2 WDM drivers, I've heard that tvserver will only see one card if you do.

From my experience the BDA driver is much more stable in general it just doesn't support diseqc which by the sounds of it you don't need.

Be warned though if you want to go back from the BDA to the WDM then you may end up having to completely rip everything SS2 from you system and start from scratch with the driver installs. i.e registry, c:\windows\inf\ c:\windows\system32\drivers

If ive got this Skystar 2 and a PVR150, what will be the best way to configure so that I can watch tv3 while recording tv2? (shortland street (for the gf i swear! ) + campbell live).

Id like to be able to do this, but not sure if its possible:

Tune 1,2,3 and 4 through freeview for viewing AND recording, but if tv2 is recording and i want to watch tv3 then it will pick it up from the PVR150+sky stb instead.

eg if im recording or viewing from 1, 2, 3 or 4, id want to use the skystar rather than the PVR150 UNLESS i need to watch/record channels on seperate transponders at the same time.

Does that even make sense? Im finding it hard to articulate what im thinking.

ps, I have a whole heap of old Pace DCR600 sky decoders that im not sure are of any use to anyone?

Trying to implement the idea discussed earlier of assigning the SKY channels to the SVideo input on the Nova card whilst getting the EPG from the satellite. I must be missing something crucial because I cannot see how you can map the DVB-S channel to the SVideo input on the card. When I select any of the DVB-S channels that MP and TV3 has found and try to change the source for that program, MP just reports that it has "No Analgue tuning details for this channel". Can someone walk me through the process of transferring a DVB-S channel from the Nova S card to an SVideo input on that card. I also have a PVR500 in the box so I have multple Video input sources.

It must depend on the card and the GUI that it presents to you within MP setup or MP server setup. I can only talk about single user MP 0.2.3 Rec3. I use a FloppyDVT S/CI satellite card and all I had to do was firstly autotune the channels for Sky TV with the satellite coax connected to the tuner card (and obviously to the Sky box as well), then secondly I edited each channel by changing the input from internal card to external box, AV or S-video input and giving it the same channel number as with the Sky box (1 for TV1, 30 for Sky Sport 1, etc). This last bit helps if you want to use a Blaster to change channels. In my case I actually had to enter each channel number with a leading zero because the Sky box was not receiving the first digit (when TV1 was sent as 1 nothing happened, when Sky Sport 2 was sent as 31 the Sky box got 1). This means I set the channel numbers as 01, 02, 020, 021, 030, 031, etc, and it all works fine.

One step required after the second step above is to map the channels to the analogue tuner card. I can not remember if they have to remain mapped to the satellite tuner card as well. I think they do to make the guide work. I am not at home to check.

Yep should work fine, basically you have to scan the all the channels on each card and then combine the channels that are same in to one channel. Then set the priortiy of the ss2 to be higher than the Hauppauge.

I just ran into a problem... I dont seem to be able to select 'external set top box' on analog channels anymore?

A quick update on ks.sys/BSOD problem (I'm currently in the dog box because the HTPC is unresponsive - every re-start leads to a BSOD..)

MP was working fine this morning (2nd day in a row - wahoo!) and today all I did on th HTPC was download a few movies and preview some of them using Windows Media Player. In between times the kids watched a bit of recorded TV in MP.

Then I set a few programmes to record and closed MP. When I went to open MP to kick back after dinner the BSOD mades it's appearance!! I'm pretty sure that MP had started to record by then, so I'm thinking maybe that's the problem - trying to open MP while TV Server is recording could be screwing it up? I know from previous experience that there is no way of killing these programmes and no matter what I do (including turning the power off) I won't be able to restart MP until the recording is finished. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does this sound likea reasonable explanation to my BSOD episodes? I hope it is because that's easy fixed - leave MP running if a programme is about to record......

It really sounds to me like MP (TV2) is trying to open/access/talk to one of your TV cards while it is in use by TVServer. Can you try to completely re-install MP from scratch(Deleting the dir from program files)? I and then re-apply the SVN patch? It's a long shot! It just sound so simalar to the problem I had when I was getting BSOD when I still hard cards configured in TV2.

Keep forgetting who's running TVServer and who's running TV2. If you're running TVServer I think you just need to select SVHS?
