There isa difference between the Nova TD-500 and the older Nova T-500. I've proved this with blaloli by running both side-by-side. He has the TD; it has a problem, I have the T and don't. It has always worked for me.

Remember... The problem is just with Windows 7.

    So it would seem that:

the NOVA T 500 is fine for many people (but it needs a top quality aerial)

the NOVA TD 500 has driver problems for some people in win7

the HVR 2200 is amazing for most people, but one person on this forum said their one "choked" ... whatever that means.

Some days I start to wonder if Tivo and MySky are not actually viable alternatives to MediaPortal and the likes :)

As long as you've set KU to linear and Satellite to 160 Optus D1 you should be fine. It takes a lot longer to scan for channels than MP 1.0.2 did though - are you giving it time to run the full scan? The one problem I had was that I'm running 2 identical tuner cards with the same drivers - I couldn't pick up a single channel until I changed the driver version on one of the cards

I tried using the advanced options yesterday when I was setting up the new HTPC (before I realised it was the drivers causing the issues) and after doing lots of "Googling" I came up with two different options, both of which different people said worked for them. For both options leave all of the "advanced" settings as they are, just fill in the bottom three boxes as follows:

    10750 10750 0

    OR

    10750 10750 10750

Just in case you don't know, the "10750" is the frequency my satellite dish is using - if you haven't checked yours already either get your torch out and go take a look (if you're still awake!) or try 10750 & if that doesn't work try 11300 - as far as I know it will only be one or the other.

    Good luck..

It means that *my* HVR-2200 was only reliable (99%) on TV3. I had annoying stuttering/pixelation on all other channels.

I replaced the HVR2200 with a Nova TD-500, same signal, no problems from then on.

But yeah, a lot of people seem to have success with HVR2200, possibly there are just bad cards that creep past Hauppage QA.

Or possibly different signal characteristics freak out different cards :)

The Nova T 500 would not even work on both tuners for me even with a direct cable straight from the aerial to card.

Faulty card rma, nothing mass produced is 100% reliable all the time ;)

Well that is true, but in this case I actually took the card back to the supplier who tested it and said nothing wrong with it. I was convinced he was not telling the truth. I then actually had a very kind local guy from this forum who had the exact same card test the card in his computer and it worked on both channels fine. So my conclusion is that the NOVA T 500 needs a way better signal strength than the HVR 2200 to work on both tuners.
