Thanks Reg... I reckon the sensor is the important part. those remotes I got from dealextreme only registered the sensors as an HID device (mouse or keyboard) so there was no way to actually 'tell it' that it needs to emulate MCE. I could be way off base though.. must admit to not really understanding how this magic box works, just enjoy the fact that it does :D

IS anyone here using the new ForTheRecord 1.5.0.1 release which includes the new Arhus tuner which in theory can replace the TV Server portion of Mediaportal?

Just gave it a go and failed miserably ... but it involved also setting a new satellites.xml file

I really LOVED FTR when I had it running well on version 1.4. It worked so well in tandem with MP, but when I went to Media Portal 1.1 RC3 I upgraded to FTR 1.5 and it kept failing to record. I tried running just Argus and not MP TVserver, but could not figure out how to get it to scan for NZ channels. It just seemed to come up with Australia and one other as possible scanable countries so I gave up in the end. I then went to MP RC4 which I am currently on, but without FTR. As MP RC5 was supposedly due for release two days ago I am waiting for that to be released (shortly after that the FTR guys will possibly have to release a patch to make it work with RC5) before I have another go at FTR.

i must be mental i cant not find in TV server where the hell you can manually add channels like in the screenshots

Under TV Channels, if i click ADD, it pops up asking for a name, and visible in tv guide, but cant customise anything else??

if i put in a name and save it, then click EDIT, still nothing

where can i manually add channels?

One change I made yesterday (and would recommend to anyone that hasn't done it) is that I now have my music being played using the Winamp plugin and ASIO4ALL - the difference in the quality of sound is huge!

Hi, whats this winamp plugin thing? I found some "purevideo" plugin on the forums. Is this it? I just tend to use BASS as it comes with MP.

Have a look at these four YouTube movies, they demonstrate how to install and scan with Argus:

You should be able to get started with the included satellites.xml, but you can always update it of course (the format is Dreambox-compatible, so they are easy to find all over the net).

I'm running 4TR 1.5.0.1 with MP 1.1 RC4 and it's working great (as usual :) ). My TV cards aren't supported by Argus (are yours?) so I still use MP TV Server for the scanning side of things.

I don't know anything about "purevideo" but here are the two links to the info I followed to set up Winamp. Once that was done I just enabled the winamp plugin in MP :):

Get audiophile sound in Windows, with ASIO4ALL - Windows Freeware / Troubleshooters

ASIO Plugins for Winamp - Windows Freeware / Troubleshooters

Note: I used the files on the Japanese page and had no problems setting everything up.

Before you go and do all this just try playing your music via Winamp and then through MP (without making any changes) - if you've got good audio equipment you'll notice the difference - adding ASIO makes the difference even more noticeable - music is "clearer" :)

If you install ASIO4ALL it can be setup within MP config & used with the MP BASS player, no need to install/use Winamp (unless you've got some particular/other reason to be using Winamp??). If you've got some good sound hardware, ASIO does make quite a nice improvement in audio quality :D

You are so so so close you will kick yourself ;)

When you open that window, along the top of it is a series of TABs, one of which is DVB-S ... add them all in there
