I have been keeping up with the patch releases and was up to RC6 under Windows XP.

I was dual booting my environment so had two XP images, one for prod and one for testing effectively. I was having some intermittent stability issues with my prod build so decided it was time to do a clean build from scratch to the latest versions.

I reloaded my second OS image with Win7 Ultimate 32bit with all the latest patches, latest NVidia drivers, Core AVC 2, AC3Filter 1.63, latest XVid, XMLTVNZ, MediaPortal RC6, Moving Pictures latest, TV Series Latest, and the Streamed MP skin and it is like a new machine!

It's ultra stable, does everything I want plus more. I can strongly recommend moving to the latest version but do a clean build instead of any sort of upgrade.

I am running two DVB-T cards in a dual core 2.8ghz with a 6800GT vid card, two 1.5gb drives.

Matt.

Figured I'd post this update on my "codec issues" just in case anyone else has the same problem.... turn out that it wasn't a codec issue after all :D:p:D (gotta laugh after all the stress and time I spent on this!) - it was a combination of MovingPictures and the MediaInfo.dll file. The details of the problem/fix are here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/moving-pictures-284/new-mediainfo-dll-might-solve-weird-delays-84200/#post639941

This shouldn't really effect anyone soon though because apparently the MediaInfo.dll file has been fixed and will be included in MP 1.1.....

EDIT: @ mattmannz - Looks like all you're missing is ForTheRecord.......

Glad you got it sorted Dave!

Hey can anyone comment on my TV signal in this screenshot? Just trying to work out if I have a weak signal.... Should the signal level have anything when viewing DVB-T freeview?

Thats the bda driver not showing signal strength, quality is more important, just changed my dvb-t card to a Peak Dual and it has same :)

@Bleazle - lol, i was actually reading about that problem earlier, shoulda clicked.

Nah you weren't to know - at least I got to learn a lot about codecs :D

Got a quick question (for anyone):

My HTPC is connected to my AMP (Marantz SR6004) via HDMI (audio and video). If my AMP is set to AUTO I get the following audio outputs:
Watch a DVD using Windows Media Player -> Dolby Digital II (I think it shows the "II" going off memory here). I don't use MediaPortal to watch DVD's
    Through MediaPortal:
    Music (using ASIO4ALL) -> 7.1 sound
Any downloaded video, including HD -> Stereo
Recorded TV or live TV -> Stereo

Is TV only broadcast in stereo? Have I missed a setting in MP or do I have to manually change the surround sound setting on the AMP when watching a TV movie?

    Cheers

@Tommy - cheers - it's a relief I can tell ya! Now that that's sorted it's time to start trying out some other things to see what else I can break :D

EDIT: Just thought of something else - I get thumbnails for all recorded TV but not for the SBS channels - why would that be?

    FreeviewHD TV3 is dual audio stream 2.0 + 5.1 (AC3)

    Press F9 while watching TV3

or go into tvserver settings and select prefer AC3 audio, and it will always be 5.1 on TV3

    Hi fellow New Zealander's,

I have been using MCE 2005 for many years now but feel it is time to upgrade to Media Portal. I would really appreciate any advice.

I currently am using a WinTv PVR 150mce with the MCE remote and IR Blaster to recieve sky Digital and to change the channel. I am still using xmltvnz to get the epg.

What i would like to do is to upgrade to media portal and keep the sky setup the same. I would also like to add a DVB-S card (Probably a Nova S Plus) to receive Freeview from the same satellite. I believe I could also use this card to pick up the sky EPG as well and that will enable me to get rid of xmltvnz as that seems to be dying.

So is what I am trying to do possible? What pitfalls could i face?

    I really appreciate your help.

    Cheers :D

Hi guys I have a few problems, hoping your vast range of knowledge can help me.

First problem is when i do a scan using the new nova-s I get all the sky channels but no freeview ones. It is an old satellite that was setup by a sky person. I have the settings set to ku-linear (Universal) - 160.0 Optus D1 in media portal. I have left all the advanced settings as is. The only two unencrypted channels I get are the 1 & 2. What do i need to change to be able to get the freeview channels?

Secondly how do i get my WinTv PVR 150mce working. I have tried a s-video scan but none of the four channels it adds works. I am using an s-video to rca connector, do i have to use s-video at the tuner end?

    Many thanks for the help!!!!

    1.1 Stuttering on interlaced channels

Yeah, here we go again. I've been away from this discussion for a few months, and I'm not sure if it's been discussed.

With 1.1 going final, I just upgraded from 1.0. Everything is going pretty well apart from the new webbrowser which crashes when I try to scroll down a page, but not too worried about that.

TV3, Prime, and other interlaced channels are occasionally stuttering for a short time. I've heard this in the past for 1.02 users due to some change to MP which required more grunt in the hardware acceleration. I heard some time ago that this was going to be dropped for 1.1 so it didn't require the extra processing power again. Perhaps this didn't happen.

I'm using an ATI 780G / HD3200 chip and it's worked perfectly for years with MP 1.0. I was using the default DivX H.264 decoder but that was bad for stuttering and using more CPU, so switched back to the Power DVD 8 codec which I was using previously. This works much better but with this odd stutter. It may not appear for 1 or 2 minutes and lasts roughly 1 or 2 seconds.

Anyone know of a solution, or do I need to purchase a faster grahics card for 1.1?

changes were not reversed from mp 1.0.2 -> 1.1 final. 780G + HT2 definitely too slow, 780G + HT3 im not sure... if the stutter only appears every 2 mins for 1 or 2 sec its possible it's not GPU related. press shift+1 to get stats.
