Can MediaPortal play DVD and Blu-Ray ISO's in its built in player if you have all the codecs installed and the file extensions setup in the config and use daemon tools to auto mount?

YES, DVD Iso are working great.

1)In MP config under general you'll had to enable deamom tool after installation.
2) under movies / extensions add ".iso"

I don't use blue ray so far, so I hope another one will point you in the right direction ...

As Naich said, ISO is working great (you need daemon tools 4.3 lite or better installed, and configured as he said in MP) but, as far as I know, it doesn't work with bluray very well.

Because the disk emulation, it uses quite a bit of CPU power and bluray already demands a lot of power, so it is very common to se bluray iso's stutter a lot, even with a quad core phenom II.

So, in short, YES for DVD's , NO for Blurays.

The best way for bluray is file mode (copy the file structure) and use the Moving Pictures pluggin, it has an advanced configuration where you can configure your Bluray Player, and if Moving Pictures sees a BDMV folder structure (ie: ..\My Movie\BDMV) it will call the external player configured in the advanced options.

you can make it work with Powerdvd 7 and 8, and totalmedia theather.

Here is a post about how to do this I remember seeing a tutorial of this, but cannot remember where, if you can't make it work, please post here again and I will make some screenshoots of how to do it
