    Hi,

I'm using MediaPortal 1.1.0 final/Windows 7 32 bits without any big problems on my shuttle SG33G5M. TV is working perfectly well (Firedtv Cable with CAM module) including scrambled channels (depending on the smartcard rights of course) and HDTV.

My problem is that I cannot connect to the TV Server from another client (windows XP) and I get the message "Connection to TV service lost". Sometimes, I also get "TV Unable to connect to the tvserver Connected to database All ip ports seem to be fine".

I've tried with 2 different clients with the same problem. It seems my network ports are OK (MP TV Client check is OK) and my connexions should be ok on server (SQLBrowser autostarted, TCPIP activated).

    Thanks for your help :)

I had the same problem... I eventually found a solution here in the forum, but I can't seem to locate the original post quickly.

In any event, the fix for me was to change my TV Server Configuration. Go to (left side of TV Server Configuration) the "Streaming Server" settings. Then, on right side, change your RTSP port. The default was 554. I changed mine to 5554. After re-booting I was able to go to the second PC (running only MediaPortal) and watch TV, recordings, etc. I'm not sure why the default (554) didn't work... but I'm happy now regardless.

I hope this helps you too.

Thank you WedgeCan for your tip :)

It has not solved the problem, but I've done new tests and I've found that using the ip adress (192.168.0.x) instead of the computer name was the solution... I think there are some name resolution problems between the computers but I don't know where.

Anyway, it was a part of the solution as I can now access to the TV EPG and start the TV but it does'nt seems to work very well, I'm also losing the connection, despite te fact it works with VLC using rtsp://ip-address:554/stream2.x ...

    Hi all mp's

    I've had the same problem.
For me it is/was a network problem, when i ping my TVserver he first reply was delayed with a couple of seconds. I added a record to my hostfile and the first reply came immediately.

    Start - run - notepad c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
add 192.168.0.10 server1 to the end of the file.

    regards

In the past month I upgraded my network switch to a gigabit switch... after I made this change, I too lost my connection. Using the ...etc/hosts trick from dk_akj fixed things right up. Thanks dk_akj.:D

Thanks, looks like this has worked for me too! Who would have thought updating the hosts file would make such a difference ...

Worked for me too. Can this info be added to the Wiki TV troubleshooting section?

my ip address for the tv server is 192.168.2.6 so assuming i add this to the hosts file. is the server1 at the end generic or variable i.e. is this something unique to my settings?
