I should have said - I'm pretty sure that is a hidden folder. You will have to paste the folder path into the windows explorer address bar to access it, or enable viewing of hidden and system files and folders.

Of course, I could be wrong. I actually would have expected your MediaPortal settings to be in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml (also a hidden folder). Whatever the case, you need to find your MediaPortal xml settings file and make that change...

Yeah, that did it! I found the setting in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml and it fixed it immediately. Now I just have to try and figure out how to get those CCs to display. That was the single biggest factor in my upgrading.

Thanks a ton, mm. I'm really grateful for your help.

    :D

    No problem. :)

I'm looking at the code and I can see why the problem is occuring - this will definitely require a code fix. I can't seem to reproduce the problem here though. Perhaps that is because I don't have the Line 21 decoder installed? Are you able to describe what I would have to do to reproduce the problem?

Unfortunately, no. I updated to 1.2.0 two days ago, and it occurred instantly, I wasn't ever able to play a .ts file until your fix. I had tried when I first installed MP months ago to get subtitles working, changing settings for a day or two until I sussed out that there was no analog North American CC support at that time. Once I did, I stopped trying, and left the settings as they last were. I'm not a coder, so I'm unable to help you in that sense. Are there an installation files that I can provide you with that might help you find where it happened?

Ah, okay that makes sense - so you were trying to get CCs working. Were you following any particular threads with instructions? I recall seeing a thread somewhere saying it worked if you set things up in a certain way. Obviously I've got no way to confirm that though - no access to ATSC or NTSC signals here.

No. I can see the code problem. The thing is that I can't reproduce the problem that you're experiencing. I can set my setting to -1, but I don't have any problem at all. I can watch video, TV... anything... no issue. That's why I was asking is there something special about your setup - extra codecs installed, a special setting?

No, at the time I was brand new to MP, so of course on a forum as big as this, even as an experienced HTPCer, it's a lot to search through and be sure it's what you were looking for. I did find something where someone mentioned having used Core CC Parser, but I don't recall him mentioning what codec he used it with, so I moved on and continued on other configuration steps, and by the time I was ready to tackle it again I had learned that CC was not available for me. I have been waiting ever so patiently ever since :D.

No, just the regular steps, I did an upgrade from 1.1.3, made no changes, and SAF 6 was already installed at the time, and working. MP was definitely working 100% correctly when I installed.

Can you try using the Microsoft codecs instead of PDVD to see if it works?
EDIT: You said you tried them all. Anyway could you try with Microsoft's one and post logs?

    Hi again

Like I said earlier, I found the problem but I didn't know the code well enough to fix it without possibly breaking things (;)). I asked for some help from the team and Sebastiii has created a patch. Would you be able to test?

    1. Close MediaPortal.
    2. Open your MediaPortal.xml config file and set the lastsubtitleindex back to -1.
    3. Take a backup of the Core.dll file in your MediaPortal install folder.
    4. Download and extract the attached Core.dll into your MediaPortal install folder.
    5. Start MP and try to play video and TV. If you can, check if CC and/or subtitles work.

    Thanks in advance,
    mm
