Cannot Setup the database Connection (1 Viewer)

MediaPortal Version: 1.0.0.0
Windows Version: Windows XP SP3

Hi all, I just recently got MediaPortal but am about to give up because i cannot get the TV-Server Database connection set-up

I have two varying errors, the first is that it complains about the schema name which is set to: 'MpTvDb'. Sometimes I also get the error that the user is not associated with a trusted SQL server connection. I am using Microsoft SQL server 5 Express and have added other user details and they all through the same error.

Anyone got any ideas?

If a try MySQL i get an error saying my local IP address 192.168.x.xx is not allowed to connect to server or something similar.

Firstly, do you definately have all the requirements for installation?

If you do, make sure you follow the MSSQL installation guide exactly, remembering to set the password to the same one youre using in the MP tv server setup.

Yes I do meet all the requirements and have used the default user and password, in the MS SQL I have even made another user which throws the same error.

very odd. i had a lot of issues with using SQL databases when i was first setting up MP as well, in my case i needed to update a few bits to meet all the requirements needed. cant help you any more than that really as im not an expert on them, but if i were you id raise this problem in MediaPortal 1.0 general talk as youre more likely to get a response.

Remember the default password is case sensitive, ie MediaPortal....Took me afew mins to figure that one out to...

Yer I made sure about the caps/non caps

Are you running this as a admin account, users may not have relevant permissions.

This is the right place for the post as SQL does relate to TVServer.

yeah sorry, see above...meant that MP1 general talk wouldnt be the proper place to start the thread
