Gone through the wiki, installed several items and I keep getting the following error. A referral was returned from the server. What am I doing wrong?

Hi.
This is what I found with Google:

Error messages beginning 8007xxxx mean there is an external problem with Windows

Something is preventing the main setup program from being executed. Can be some anti-virus software or similar, not properly granted rights or something like that. Not that easy to diagnose what exactly isn't working from away...

• when context menu "Run as Administrator" the install starts as expected

I tried that too, no luck. Turned off anti virus, turned down access control, ran as admin, same issue.

Hhm, that appears strange. Are you really sure that you are launching the installer by right-clicking on its icon and then selecting the option "Run as Administrator"? Are you then sure that the user that you are entering in the dialogue does really have adminsitrator rights under Windows?

Are you trying to run the MP2-Setup-Logging.bat? If yes, try the setup.exe with admin rights instead.

I can confirm that the logging batch file will not execute on my system - and I do have admin rights beyond any doubt.

What I'm trying to install is labeled MP2-Setup.exe.

This is a secondary PC, I am the only user and I only use to record cameras around my home and on rare occasions as a network render machine when I'm doing heavy 3D graphic scenes etc.

I am indeed right clicking and selecting run as admin.

Is this a standard isolated installation or is the machine a domain member?
