Update:
Fresh XP install with seperate SP2 install and all neccesary stuff.

When i install the channels through "mediaportal setup" and start media portal afterwards, i do see TV.
But after a reboot, the same problem accur. I can't swith tv on.

Install is MP 0.2 RC without CVS.

Okay.. somehow it seems that it has to do something with the following errorcode

9-1-2006 23:35:09 mpeg2:FAILED to set streambuffer filename:0x80004005


Please, can anybody give me tips or hints how to solve this.
Even installed all the patches, mentioned in tips and tricks section.

i´ve done literly everything i know (whichs is alot i tell ya).

what could be the main reason to generate such errorcode.

Just for the record, ive managed to get tv after i manually scanned for the channels in mp setup and go directly to mediaportal and mytv.
But when i reboot, then it goes wrong.

Hmmmm maybe this is a bug....

Try deleting your TVDatabase.db3 file, your carpturecards.xml file and the mediaportal.xml file too.
Then run configuration.exe and set everything back up.

If that does not work can you try a clean install of RC1 please.

I see that in the "card1" directory, there should be a "live.tv" file, am i correct about that?
Because i don't have any single file in that directory.. :?
Besides that, the last rule is about "filename:0x80004005" shouldn't that be live.tv??

Also ensure MP has right to write to that directory.

Quick update.
Just installed RC 01 (without updates) and telly works good!!

Now im going to install RC02 and see what happens then.
To be sure, i copied the files you mentioned before from the RC01 directory

@Dman: I have adminrights on the pc so writing the file shouldn't be a problem.

---UPDATE---
With RC02 it doesn't work anymore.
I've got the logs of RC01 (where it did work) and i've got the logs of RC02 where it didn't work.

What parts do you want me to post?

Another thing: the "card1" directory is made "read only". When i undo that, it automaticly is made "read only".
Might that be the problem?

And yet, another important update!

In the "card1" directory, there is normally a live.tv file, but somehow, this file is not written, or if it exist, it is been deleted when mediaportal starts.

I've made an empty live.tv file in the "card1" directory and made it read only.

Now, i can turn "mytv" on and off!!!!

Only thing is that i only get tv when "timeshifting" is disabled.

So.. i think we just made a huge step into the solution, only i hope you have enough information above to point the correct solution or how this could happen.

OK thats proves the changes to the naming conventions from RC1 to RC2 is causing your issue - damn!

I'll get mPod onto it to determine what might be causing your particular isue. It's interesting that it does not effect anyone else.

I assume you're using the default naming tags.

Can you outline if the channel names have any characters which may effect the file naming convention also.

I asume you mean the names i give the channels when i autotune them?
In that case, i give them the name of the channel self, such as "RTL 5" or "National Geographic"

No weird things in that.

Just for the record:

The "card1" directory is read only and i can't turn that off.
After installing MP and autotune for the channels, there is noting in this directory, except some hidden temp dir.
When i make an empy live.tv file in the "card1" directory and start MP, this file is beeing removed instantly and i can't turn mytv on.
When i make this live.tv file "read-only", i can turn mytv on and of, and i do see the telly.

Besides this, I did had problems when watching a channel in full screen (my mouse disappeard and i couldn't exit anymore), but that isn't important at this point i think.
