I'm curious, does this plugin operate from within MP or is it basically an independent program that sits in the tray? Does it support the away-mode function, so that it doesn't turn on my tv and avr when ever I schedule a recording?

The MePo solution is a process plugin. You can download it with the plugin installer.
There are also tray applications for the pulse-eight device but these must not run in parallel with the plugin. The only thing that you need from the pe homepage is the device driver.

The plugin only switches on the tv-set if you manually switch on the htpc. If the htpc starts automatically (scheduled jobs, recording, ...) the tv-set stays off.

As a longtime User of Windows Media Center, I'm not familiar with what a "process plugin" really is. How is this different from an add-on in XBMC for example?

Btw, does this plugin support connected AVRs as well?

There is no need to care about the word "process" . Just install the plugin with the MePo plugin installer.
And yes, the plugin deals with AVR too.

    Hi there,

I have just come to use my HTPC - This is the first time I have used it since last night when it went into standby (by pressing the power button on the remote).

The HTPC turned on at around 19:55 tonight for a scheduled recording (doesn't power on the TV/AVR). I tried pressing a button on the remote to bring the unit out of awaymode (around 20:50), but the TV/AVR did not turn on. Looking in the attached logs, you can see the CEC plugin caused an exception last night when it was going to sleep - So the issue is when the HTPC tries to enter sleep :(

The HTPC screen reports Mediaportal has stopped responding and an application error has occurred.

    Thanks,

    J.

Ok, so I've just installed the plugin.

My setup is an internal Pulse Eight CEC adapter connected to HDMI5 on a Marantz AVR, which in turn is connected to HDMI1 on a Samsung TV.

I can use my TV remote to interact with MP and both TV and AVR properly turn on and off.

However, only the TV automatically switches to the correct HDMI port. When the AVR is turned on, it remains switched to the last selected HDMI port and not input 5 like I've selected in the options menu.

Is there a way to record a log file to see what's going on here?

Yes, it is. You can find detailed information in the WIKI.

    To shorten this:
    Set loglevel to "debug"
    See here how to do:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...guration/MediaPortal_Configuration/11_General
In the CEC Remote plugin configuration there is also a setting to enable extensive logging if I remember right. You have to activate this too.

Then restart MePo let it go to sleep.
Change the source on your AMP away from five
Resume MePo and exit it after complete resuming

Then you can pick up the log file and attach it here. On top of the MePo config tool there is a drop down menu that leads you to the logging directory. You have to send mediaportal.log.

I've tested the setup some more. Turns out, it sometimes works flawlessly but sometimes it doesn't and the AVR remains switched to the last used hdmi port.

See the attached log file for one instance, in which the TV was turned on, the AVR was off (and had been switched away from HDMI5 prior to going into standby). While the TV is properly switched to HDMI1 and the AVR is turned on, the AVR did not switch to HDMI5.

Is the "Connected to" setting set correctly? Should be AudioSystem in your case.

Yes, I've selected AudioSystem from the dropdown menu.

As far as I can tell, this problem only occurs when I TV was already turned on. If both the TV and AVR are powered down, then everything works fine.
