Normally covers and fanart should be automatic psykix but unfortunately they are broken by recent changes (including the Cover manager which lets you download and choose your preferred cover(s). You can 'limit' the number of fanart images you want in AMCU I think default is 3? because sometimes there are over 30 on TMDB of varying quality and size. So there is a feature request (Issue 128) in the Tracker for a Fanart Manager similar to TV Series which I keep pushing for so you can select the quality and fanart images you want, or change them. If you star that issue - it 'increases' the priority ;).

I've been having a look at Ember Media Manager, I'll give it a try. Is it automated after the first run?
You can run it in an automated mode (IIRC) but I don't do that. I take the extra time to go through each movie individually to have only the fanart I want (EMM offers you to choose from LOTS of fanart it finds) and that all the data is *perfect*.

I was using MovingPictures, and that just grabbed the film and fanart, cover art etc on it's own as soon as a new movie was added to the movies folder.
Same here, only that I had movingpictures configured to only use the NFO grabber. Internet lookups _always_ failed me. Either fanart was crap/missing/wrong or the entirely wrong movie found.

With EMM I now have i.e.
    \Cars\
    - cars.mkv
    - cars.nfo
    - cars.jpg
    - cars-fanart.jpg
    \The Avengers\
    - The Avengers.mkv
    - The Avengers.nfo
    - The Avengers.jpg
    - The Avengers-fanart.jpg

So plugins like MyFilms or MovingPictures don't have to lookup anything from the web. With the nfo grabber they use those files and I can be 100% sure that all the movie infos are 100% correct as well as that I get the gfx displayed I want.
Moving from one plugin to an other, or doing a new clean import is a breeze. :D

That sounds ideal. I have just pulled a few movies out into a test folder and ran EMM on it, and out of 4 films it actually only found 2, I had to do a search on the IMDB ID to get it to find the others :-(

Slow process I guess, but worth it in the end!

So, if I go down that route, and use the NFO grabber, then how do I stop MyFilms from downloading any artwork? Or will it not download any if NFO grabber is selected?

I am currently at work so I have to base this on what I remember. :)

    As GrabberScipt select the "nfo.xml"
    ImportBehaviour "automatch only"
Title and search handling "Folder name"
    Importer001.jpg

    Database fiields:
add group name to "both titles"
    use script for fanart
    Importer002.jpg

Make sure you store every movie inside it's own folder.

In case you have movies that are part of a collection (The Transporter 1, 2, 3. ToyStory 1,2,3) Then MyFilms can group these together.
To achive that grouping you need to create the following folder structure (thats one way to do it - I prefer it).

    Toy Story Collection (Group)
    - Toy Story 1
    --- Toy Story 1.mkv
    --- Toy Story 1.nfo
    --- Toy Story 1.jpg
    --- Toy Story 1-fanart.jpg
    - Toy Story 2
    --- Toy Story 1.mkv
    --- Toy Story 1.nfo
    --- Toy Story 1.jpg
    --- Toy Story 1-fanart.jpg
    - Toy Story 3
    --- Toy Story 1.mkv
    --- Toy Story 1.nfo
    --- Toy Story 1.jpg
    --- Toy Story 1-fanart.jpg

So then you get one "Toy Story Collection" entry inside MP/MyFilms and when you enter that, you see the films under that collection.
To get a cover to display for these collections you need to put a "Toy Story Collection.jpg" into the MyFilms/pictures folder.
I created unique pictires for my collection to quite identify these inside the MP/MyFilms GUI Coverflow view. :)

First steps are daunting. but when you finally have a working setup then it is just so awesome! :D

Ok, I have EMM working - it'll just be a long process to go through and sort them all initially, but I can live with that for the ease of use later on!

The bit I am confused about is the artwork paths in MyFilms? EMM adds all the files generated from a scrape into the movies' folder (I do have a separate folder for each movie).
Also, it adds 2 files the same <movie>.jpg and <movie>-fanart.jpg - do I need both?

What do I set the artwork paths to in MyFilms config? Currently it is /Pictures relative path (but that is in the database folder which I no longer want) Or does it have to copy all the artwork across again to another path????

I'd suggest you try and process lets say 10 movies with EMM and then try an import in MyFilms using the NFO grabber.

EMM adds all the files generated from a scrape into the movies' folder (I do have a separate folder for each movie).
That is correct. The nfo grabber from MyFilms then looks into each folder, reads the data from the nfo, and copies the <movie>.jpg and <movie>-fanart.jpg

    MyFilmsFolder.jpg

Also, it adds 2 files the same <movie>.jpg and <movie>-fanart.jpg - do I need both?

Yes you need both because <movie>.jpg is the cover/poster and <movie>-fanart.jpg is the fanart background image. :)

    MyFilmsGUI.jpg

Just leave that as it is. The nfo importer copies the <movie>.jpg there IIRC. :)

    MyFilmsConf.jpg

When you create your own <movie> collection.jpg files as covers for the boxsets, then drop them in that folder and MyFilms will use these.
    MyFilmsGUIboxset.jpg

hope this helps! feel free to ask if you have more questions!

    Thanks for this :)

Can I ask a favour, can you attach your EMM config file please?

I'm struggling to get it to find any films now, so dunno what I did wrong!

Also, what about cast pictures, I see MyFilms supports those, but not sure where to configure grabbing those?

    Thanks!

At home I am using the nfo grabber because I have all my movies prepared with an nfo + fanart + cover etc. with EMM.

Guess thats why I did not have this issue at home, but at work when I tried with the OFDB grabber.
Yep, it is for sure grabber related.
Btw. i noticed that I must use the option "Database Field -> Add Group Name to -> Both Titles". Otherwise the grouping does not work for me. Guess that also due to choosing "translated title" as primary, and per default AMC adds the group name only to the original title.
iirc, you could also only apply group name to translatedtitle - as this is your primary "mastertitle" - but assigning to both allows you to switch bewteen ttitle and otitle and have grouping in both, so no reason not to do so...

Yay! I have it working on the network share. Thanks for the pointer Guzzi, and the input Infinite.Loop :)

Only thing now, is I have no cover art. Do I need to use something else to get that?
Well, I didn't check that, but at least IMDB grabbers have been broken for cover art too - so I would assume, this is related.
You could try the TMDB grabber, as that one uses the API, that does not change with website changes, like Amazon/imdb.
Once, the IMDB grabbers are fixed, this will all properly work again ...

From where did you download it?
The site google throws out first is nolonger maintained. Most recent version can be found here -> http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=165012

The old one from the original site has grabber scripts broken due to site changes. :(
