Nice idea, this is kind of the same except not using topbar. I want it to be accessible from as many places as possible not only with mouse but navigatable with remote too as not everyone have dedicated or mapping button for movies, series etc.
So far i don't think the menu will be accessible with remote in tvguide because the navigation seems to be hardcoded.

Topbar works everywhere, FWIW. I've never used MP with a remote, so I have no idea how, of even if, it could be used there.

Also, in designing, don't forget to leave room for scroll bars! Please. :)

 scrollbars lol. Topbar does indeed work everywhere but only with mouse for example if i want to add the menu to tvguide screen and navigate it using remote i can't because the navigation seems to be hardcoded in this screen between the topbar and tvpanel etc so even if i add the menu to the topbar i can't navigate it as the focus always drops back to either the topbar or tvpanel controls.

Heres a couple more shots and the revamped tvguide, best benefit to tvguide is that it's so clear to view from a normal sofa distance now.

I like, but FYI, serif fonts are generally regarded as easier to read. Computer people hardly ever use them, and neither do graphic designers. Why is that?

I notice room for a scrollbar in the list view. Good.

That is because no designer can agree on which font has better readability:D but in general serif fonts are better for print where as sans serif usually suite computer screens better.

An area that I have experimented with that has high WAF is a comprehensive topbar that allows direct navigation to many (most? all?) popular screens from wherever you are at the moment, say from Moving Pictures List to Recorded TV, or TV Guide, or TV Series.
This is my solution for the upcoming PVHD 1080 v6.3 :D
