This is a great plug-in, thanks alot Seba.

I've found an issue with it, though. It appears to stop working if certain changes are made to the configuration. Eg, if the 'Always on top' option is checked under 'General', then the remote stops working when MP is started. Also, if I then stop MP and uncheck that option, then restart MP, it still won't work. I have to restart my PC to recover the remote functionality.

Any thoughts on that?

I am using a Winfast dv2000, and PVR2 2.0.2.32.

If you see a WinfastPVRDouble.exe (WinfastPVR2Double.exe) in the task manager after you close MP kill it. That would cancel the need to restart pc (I think). Unfortunately I have an older version TV card (it came with blue remote) and it is giving me a lot of trouble when I try to use PVR2. Remote just stops working with the original PVR2 software and I'm unable to test the plugin properly. About the 'Always on top' issue, I will check it out.

Discovered that the 'Always On Top' doesnt actually matter. If I stop MP and start it again, the remote stops working.

In fact, at the moment it doesnt work at all - restart or not. I didnt change anything so I'm going to try re-installing MP etc again and see if it makes a difference...

More information: I monitored the file WinfastPVR2Double.exe - when MP starts, it also starts this app (as part of the plugin I assume). However, the process only stays active for about 10 seconds before expiring and falling off the process list. I assume that is a problem, hope it contributes to your research.

Sorry for no replay, but it seems I accidentally turned off the notification for this thread.
You are right WinfastPVR2 is part of the plugin, it "emulates" winfast window and it resends captured codes to the mp part of the plugin. The only reason it would exit is that it receives close signal from wfwiz (tray app). I will check the source if I made an error but without new hardware it is impossible to correct the error. My Winfast Expert is from 2004 and as I mentioned PVR2 and remote I have don't work together (remote stops working).
btw You can't have PVR and MP runig at the same time for remote to work.

Input mapping file for Leadtek CoolCommand remote (Y04G0044)

Hi all,

I have the remote model Y04G0044 from CoolCommand (came with Leadtek DTV1000S card, but is also included with some others). Attached is an input device mapping file to support this remote - it includes all the buttons on the remote except for the TV/DVD/FM buttons (next to Power). It appears that Seba's plug-in does not recognise these buttons - there is no debug line in the log file after these buttons are pressed.

But, anyway, between the red/blue/yellow/green buttons, and the four extra "unnamed" buttons across the bottom, there are plenty of options on this remote to configure things how you want. The mappings in the attached file are just how I've set mine up.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Craig

Thanks Craig for this file, if you don't mind I will include it in the next release of the plug in.

Hi Seba,

No worries - happy to contribute!

On a similar note, can you think of any reason why the TV/FM/DVD buttons on this particular model of remote would not be working? They don't actually send a command through (well, at least nothing gets logged by the plug-in in the MediaPortal log file). Is that because it's not recognising those buttons in the WinPVR2Double.exe? If I had some spare time, I'd take a look at the source code myself and try to figure it out, but I'm just a bit busy at the moment.

Cheers,
Craig

Hi Seba,

A small bug that I noticed. Whenever you open the config window for the plug-in, it doesn't check the radio button that relates to whichever "WinPVR" version you have selected (ie. both radio buttons stay unchecked). When you check one, it does update the correct value in the input mapping file.

Cheers,
Craig

I think that buttons you mention don't work because leadtek integrated WFWhiz and WFMultRM, and now the new remotes have separate buttons for launching the winfastTV, winfastFM or winfastDVD (winDVD). My remote (model from 2003) has one tv/fm button and switching between apps is done in currently running app (tv or fm). On the newer models switching is done in the wfwhiz (tray app), and that is the reason why codes for those buttons are not sent to the winfastpvr, that was the reason my old launcher was not working with new wfwhiz, wfwhiz doesn't executes it anymore.

I'm aware of the bug, but since I configure it very rarely I always forget to fix it :) but it will be fixed in the next release.

Craig (or Seba)
I've read through this thread and wanted to confirm exactly what I would need to do to use the mapping file you created. Am I right that I need to
a. install Seba's plug-in
b. download your xml file and save (into .... ?) onto PC
Is that right?

You are right, if you are using latest mp save Craig's file in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\" and to be sure in "c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\defaults\" or you can wait until next monday and download new version of the plugin with some bugs fixed.
