    Hi,

    We had a discussion of this in the internal forum. It is clear from the logs that Branksome has the linkage scanner enabled.

    This is not the same as combining channels. Unless we are missing something about the config, the linkage scanner should be disabled.

    Please also try to disable the linkage scanner and test again. You probably want to do this before testing DJBlu's new TsWriter, just to make sure.

    When SetupTV.exe does a channel scan, does it check for encoded channel names? Since the channels scan fine and have the correct names, either it does or they are not encoded.

    Could you post the patch for this so that if it works we can all keep track?

    DJBlu - what do you think? You obviously know the code far better than I do. However, I am convinced that this has nothing to do with encoding of channel names as such, and everything to do with the linkage scanner.

    This is for a DVBS card, right? Why network ID = 2 ? Freesat is 59. What does a network ID of 2 correspond to?

    Network id of 2 is sky. There is only a single transponder listed on en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php that has a network id of 59 (this transponder contains the Freesat info channel that EPG will be grabbed from)

    So he presumably has two DVBS tuners (one for sky and one for freesat) as well as DVBT. Or can you use one DVBS tuner for both?

    Either way, no reason for channel linkage scanner, right?

    All the actual channels have a network id of 2 and you can use the same card for Freesat and Sky.

    Still no reason for the linkage scanner (I have a feeling this only works with some German channels)

    I had HD channels from Satellite but not from Freeview until 21 March. That was the day I would have combined the 4 common HD channels. SD channels were already combined before then without problem

    I don't understand what is meant by 'linkage scanner'. When I installed MP, I would have then scanned for channels having selected the appropriate satellite set. Initially I didn't understand why I couldn't get an epg for the satellite channels but as a result of posting on a forum I was told about the Freesat and R Caroline tick boxes.

    For the third USB (teresstrial) tuner I used the Mapping facility as explained in the help section. This was because the usb tuner didn't discover all the channels.

    Go into SetupTV and select the 'General' pane. Then select the scan tab and you should see something like the screenshot linked below

    If you have the Linkage Scanner Enabled box checked (which the logs seem to indicate that you do) then this should be unchecked. We think this is your problem.

    Of course, now that the channel names have become corrupted, they will need fixing, but once you uncheck this box you should not have the problem again.

    Thanks. I had just turned the HTPC on and noticed that the names had been corrupted. I have corrected them. I then saw your message and you are correct, the linkage box was ticked. I have unchecked it. I have made sure that in the short time between correcting the names and unchecking the box, the names hadn't been re-corupted.

    Is that it now? If so, thanks for all your efforts. I will leave as is for tonight.
