Hi,

Since a couple of days, MP can't reach the database although there is no obvious reason to it.

This happens when I try to turn the TV ON. MP then asks to change the server.

I found this error in the error.log file yesterday.

[TVService]: Exception :Error: DatabaseUnavailableUnclassified
Gentle.Common.GentleException: The database backend (provider MySQL) could not be reached.
Check the connection string: Server=FALBALA;Database=MpTvDbRC2;User ID=root;Password=MediaPortal;charset=utf8;Connection Timeout=300; ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: [...]

Complete Error log zip file attached.

I hope this makes sense to you ...

Anyway thx for your help.

    Hi,

    check your gentle.config file in MP config folder (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal)

Check the rights of the file and folder, MP tries to create or modify the gentle.config but it can't.

    Thanks for your answer Marvman.

There is no gentle.config file in the sub-folder MediaPortal of (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal)

But there is one in the sub-folder MediaPortal TV Server.

So I copied it to the sub-folder MediaPortal, but it doesn't solve the problem.

I checked the rights as you suggested: but no rights can be set as there is only one user defined and it has admin rights, so it should not be a problem.

I also freed some space on the HDD, but this was not an issue anyway.

Could you please confirm the sub-folder in which the gentle.config must be present?

Any other ideas are welcome Marvman ... Thx for your help.

    Hi petit-pere,

ok, i read the logs again, and that's smells like problems :)

I think your installation is corrupted, you use an old MP Version and maybe TVE2 AND TVE3, some strange error occurs.

Controller: sorry, master/slave server setups are not supported. Since there is already another server in the db, we exit here.

My suggestion would be to delete ALL and reinstall MP 1.0 + TVE3

    Hi Marvman,

I did a clean installation of the version 1.0 final with the TV server shipped with the package ... and it works!

Vielen Dank für deine wertvolle Hilfe.
