Working through your test pattern..

It looks like that any video is black. It only shows up when going to control panel and moving the slider for troubleshooting to at least the 3rd position from left. Any position further means black video.

I guess it must have to do with DX acceleration, I tried different version of the nvidia gfx drivers, to no luck..

I will continue with the test pattern and post more detailed results, but for the time beeing I think I am doing something fundamentally wrong..

Why is DX9 not working properly?! I am using a XP Pro Version including SP2, but I do not have an internetconnection at the HTPC so I did not update anything from the MS patches..
Do you think that could be related with the problem?

Is there a redistributable (hot)fix /update download for XP, so I can get all and put on a CD?

As stated in another post last week, ALL M$ patches need to be installed, otherwise MP will have problems.

Sorry but that seems to be the way it is.

    Hi all,

I was having the exact same problem for a couple of weeks now.
Got to much for me yesterday so after checking logs, I tried disabling exclusive VMR and setting VMR9 Filtering to none.

MP did not get stuck for the 2hrs I used it last night.
I will try to run it for a few hours tonight and post back if it is a solution.

Here I even have not installed MP at all.. I have just a clean XP Pro SP2 install.
    Installed ..

    - Nvidia 91.47 drivers (for 7600GS)
    - Microsoft Installer
    - .Net 2.0
    - Nvidia Pure Video Gold

    And tried playing back video.
First time it was fine, it ran about more than 2h. I was lucky, but after a restart the video was black from the beginning.

I tried MPC and all settings, none brought me the video display back.
Then I went to display properties in control panel and moved the troubleshooting slider to the left. The third position from the left gave me video playback again.

But the text under the slider tells me that all DirectDraw, Direct3D,etc.. accelerations are turned off now. That is not how I want to continue..

I did reinstalls 4 times this weekend. My last hope is that there are things in the post-SP2 patches that fixes the problem.

Otherwise I am close to believing that I have a hardware issue. I tried different version of Nvidia drivers..

I googled the problem, but little luck. Some guys do have the same problem, but no consitent way of solving it.

    :-(

This was not on MY list:Nvidia Pure Video Gold :(

like I said, FIRST try with the setup and codecs provided !

So remove Nvidia Pure Video Gold your CPU is fast enough and for now stability is better!

    SO:

uninstall all codecs and install only the 3:

    FFDshow from previous post !
Haali and VObsub and check in MPC

    Hey,
I was actually installing Pure Video as someone recommended it over the codecs that come with MP.

I thought they are more proffessional, but that might be wrong..

If you want my to deinstall and stay with the given once, I will do that..
