Direct channel tuning (1 Viewer)

Hey folks, I'm new to the world of MediaPortal, so go easy on me! I have tried looking for the info I need, but have come up empty. Basically, my question is HOW can I tune a channel directly, or jump to a channel in the guide? Basically, when I am in the guide, I type in 400...but it shows me channel 471. Then same thing happens if I try to tune to a channel directly!? How can I make this work?! (what am I obviously missing?)

In answer to your questions:

1. Ensure all your channels are numbered correctly. I mean the channel number field in TV Server Configuration's TV Channels section as shown -->here<--. Note there is a "channel number" column in the main TV Channels section channel list (ie. the first tab) which allows you to quickly check if/which channels have been numbered correctly.
   
2. Untick "select channel by index" in MediaPortal Configuration TV/Radio -> TV section. The setting is described -->here<--.
