I have comskip running I believe successfully, but the next/previous buttons do not properly follow the text file commercial points.

I think sometimes it is a bit worse but this time it seems to skip at least one point. this is the comskip text file:

FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE 86803 FRAMES AT 2500
-------------------
5266 7840
38735 40742
54631 55395
65563 68088
81307 83038
86802 86803

If I play the recording and press next 5 times it will close the recording (must have got to the end), by my count I should need 6. I thought it used to also skip to the start of a commercial block if you were in the program and the end if you were in the commercials? was that incorrect behavior? it now just goes the the ends of commercial blocks regardless, not so bad but it would be good if it followed all of them ;)

I run through the skipping process twice to get these logs.

I suspect it may have something to do with the recording being recorded across midnight (ie. the date changed mid recording). not sure but I haven't noticed a problem with other programs, although this tends to mean I don't trust the commercial skipping.

does this all make sense? can any body else confirm this? do I need to do any more tests?

Notice though that the last only has 1 frame difference so you'd never notice. Not really sure why comskip would generate that? Or am I reading something wrong?

The current implementation only jumps to the end of commercial blocks.

The last entry only covering one frame is at the very end of the file, I don't know why comskip does that.

I don't think there is any error or incorrect behaviour in this case.

    Cheers,

Automatic skipping will be included as soon as MediaPortal comes out of the "feature freeze". It's working very well on my local dev copy, so it will be straight in as soon as the freeze is over.

After that I plan to put the comskip data into the mediaportal database and also add in osd features, but that's a low priority to be honest.

    Cheers,

    Ok, tested this.

FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE 50429 FRAMES AT 2500
    -------------------
1 4199 <-- First press end up there
16159 24585 <-- Second press end up there
44821 50430 <-- Third press the recording ends. but it's also because 50430 is EOF

Looks all good as far as I can see. ;)

I will have to have a look and see if any other cases show problems more, I didn't notice the 2 last frames being almost the same, that would be why I had less presses than I expected. maybe it is comskip not detecting all the adds. I will have to have another look.

    some more info:

I run through comparing the comskip places to the commercials i saw and found only one missing, at 16:37 there should have been a break but wasn't. no idea what that comes to in frames.

That would be ~24925 with your FPS. It's not listed in the Comskip file either.

Get the trial of VideoRedo and have comskip output a .VPrj file. It really helps when you are comparing (since VideoRedo is like... graphical).

I upgraded to the latest comskip an run it on 2 of the files, both picked up 1 extra commercial, so it looks like that may have been the problem. thanks for helping me work through it anyway, Ill see how it goes.
