    What do you think, is it complicated?
    It is complicated. I've checked the code, and I think it would work... but I can make no guarantee. In all my time working on MediaPortal I know of nobody who has tried this...

    Hello!

    Here is my experience and comments of the card.
    About 1½ years ago I bought two Mystique satix-s2 sky express dual. Four diseqc 2-1 switches are connected to the cards and two quad lnb´s to feed the switches. The cards work perfectly. Tuning times are between 1600-2500ms.
    When I came home from vacation, this summer, one of the cards was dead. I ordered a new one to replace it. When I got the new card it was branded as dvbsky and not with a sticker labelled mystique (like on the old card). I contacted support and they said it is the same card and when comparing the new and old card, they look the same, both have s952 printed on them and they work with the same driver (well, almost). There is one difference thou. The old card is v1.0b and the new is v2.0a.
    My problem is that only tuner lnb input 2,on the new card, works. On lnb input 1 I have "No signal" issues. After fiddling around with lnb input 1 I can determine that it is not broken but have some issues with the diseqc settings (simpleA, simpleB).
    I read about the heat problems in this thread so I decided to stick some ram heatsinks to the warm parts (this was done after I determined my problems)

    Is there any way I can assist in getting this hw to work?

    Is there any way I can assist in getting this hw to work?
    Sure. :)
    Please provide full log files showing:
    • start of the TV service
    • attempt to switch to a channel using simple A
    • attempt to switch to a channel using simple B
    • attempt to switch back to a channel using simple A

    [edit: in fact, it would be great if you could repeat the test for both the Mystique and DVBSky cards...]

    Hmmmm, it looks like the DVBSky/Mystique driver may use the Hauppauge DiSEqC interface. gurabli this would mean that switch and motor control are possible in theory... however there have always been issues with the reliability of the switching.

    Here is another log for when the "issuetuner" can tune the first channel. The only change I have made is in "tunersettings-preferred network provider" and changed value from DVBS to generic.

    I now recall that I also had no signal issues with my mystique cards but solved it by changing priority in cards settings (or was it a driver update? I cant remember clearly because its been a while since I had that issue :( )

    I gave up on the idea of using two dishes, one fixed and one with a motor, controlled using diseqc 2/1 switch. As you said, it is very complicated and rarely used by anybody else.

    But controlling a single motorized dish should be not a problem, if I get this correctly? Or is this also not reliable?

    I wonder if that would make any problems for you if I go with a single tuner version of the DVBSky card, that is, the S950. Exactly the same card as the S952, but only with one tuner on board, it even has the same layout of the board, just the second tuner is missing. Will that make any difference while adding proper motor support or not?

    Hi mm!
    Finally I have received green light for mounting a dish, so the project will speed up a lot now!

    I came over the USB version of the DVBSky card, the single tuner S960, that is exactly the same as the PCIe card I was looking for. It has all the same specifications as the PCIe version. I wonder if there are any drawbacks of the usb interface compared to PCIe? Is it reliable to use, is USB 2 fast enough for HD streams, or any other difference?

    It probably makes no difference.

    The DiSEqC control interface could be different (different driver => sometimes different control interface).
    USB 2 is 480 Mbps - plenty fast enough for HD. The issue with USB is problems like this:

    hi
    about dvbsky S952::

    IN PROGDVB AND PROGFINDER
    I SEE THAT
    SIGNAL QUALITY AND SIGNAL LEVEL are INVERSE
    for example:
    I have a satellite receiver
    hotbird
    12188 v 27500
    signal level is 88-90 it is correct//
    signal quality is 50
    ========================
    with dvbsky s952
    and progdvb and progfinder
    signal quality is 88-90 !!!
    and signal level is 50
    it is inverse
    ==============================
    I think dvbsky s952 has some problem with driver
    too
    signal quality has very increase and decrease with s952
    signal quality is unstable (7 or 8%)
    =========================================
    regards
