All I'm saying is that DXVA + subs works with MediaPortal w/o use of any other codec/software etc.

Regarding choosing/installing "the right" codecs: You'll never get an unanimous answer regarding what codec you should install ;) Some people don't want to use "codec packs", others prefer 'em. If you are to use a codec pack, SAF would definitely be my recommendation.

I've installed a Win7, latest display drivers and MP-RC2 (+Moving Pictures, My TVSeries and StreamedMP).
When I try to watch a mkv movie, I just get an error:
    Unable to play filename.mkv
    video codec: AVC
    audio codec: AC-3

So I guess I should install SAF 5?

Yes... Everything depends on codec and hardware. So if your hardware is capable to hardware accelerate it then you should install appropiate codecs. SAF just makes life a bit easier - codec wise :)

I have never used DVB-S/S2 (satellite), but I do use DVB-T/T2 (terrestrial), and I think that the behaviour would be the same. Generally, when performing a rescan, the recommendation is to select the Enable channel movement detection setting. Wherever possible, this will cause TV Server to: Preserve the channel selection status...

The problem with MP 1.32 was that the TV Server component was still 32-bit, even when you installed the 64-bit version of the MP client. MP 1.33 will have 32-bit and 64-bit versions of both the MP client and TV Server. My understanding is that it will not be possible to perform an upgrade install from a 64-bit client + 32-bit TV...

Good. I am pleased that that is now working for you. :) If you have ever looked at MP debug log files, you may have noticed that apparent errors are not rare, but these are "errors" that do not affect the functioning of the product. (It is not desirable to have these errors in the log file, as it misleads users, testers, and...
