Dynamic Refresh Rate not working (2 Viewers)

What could prevent dynamic refresh rate from working?

I had it working with my current set up as far as hardware goes but since then I have done a fresh install using current versions of software and drivers.

Previously when changing between media the display would go black and show what the new display rate was.

MP is picking up media display rate as the pop up works correctly.

Any ideas?

Many, many things, but without logs it's just a simply guess.
    But things to look into:
    - Make sure DRR is enabled
    - Check logs for MediaInfo, without this it won't work
    - DRR doesn't work for LiveTV & RTSP.

The popup (which you can enable) only shows on a change of the refresh rate, so that would indicate it's working.

Previously my display would reset and indicate the new display rate.

MP picks up the display rate but my display isn't changing

Can this maybe be a nvidia driver issue?

I'll post logs when I get a chance

I am having the same issue. Refresh rate change popup appears but output is still 60Hz according to TV and I see pulldown artifacts. Will post logs when I get the chance, Windows 8 for me so that may be the issue.

I'm on Windows 8, and it's working perfect with the 1.3 Final ;)

    Now with logs
    And that explains ;)
    Code:
    2013-03-17 17:08:38.454600 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: RefreshRateChanger.AdaptRefreshRate: framerate on file H:\Media\Temp\The.Ultimate.Fighter.S17E08.[H264][720P][60FPS][Secludedly]\The.Ultimate.Fighter.S17E08.[H264][720P][60FPS][Secludedly].TS is 59.94

    2013-03-17 17:08:38.517600 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: CycleRefreshRate: successfully changed refresh rate to 50Hz (59Hz requested)
It seems your TV / Monitor isn't capable of doing 59Hz, since the switch failed. Try to adjust that refresh rate manually, unless you're already sure that won't work. If you TV doesn't accept this value, then you'll need to adjust the DRR settings in Config so that 29.97 & 59.94 do 60Hz instead of 59Hz.

Check the 2nd table in this Wiki.

    Hi,

The problem is that I had an overscan on my nvidia settings removed that and the drr is working.

Funny thing is the 59Hz file works perfectly with my tv selecting 60Hz ..... it's the 24Hz files giving me issues, some work and some don't even start playing.

I should had before my current win7 install and updated drivers/ software all this worked perfectly. I've made no hardware changes. So I find it hard to believe that my TV now can't handle certain refresh rates, can codecs maybe cause this?

    Any ideas?

    Logs coming soon.

yeah, since the difference between 60Hz and 59.94Hz is really small. It all depends on which refresh rates your TV can handle.
Since you're Australian, your TV is probably a PAL system (50Hz), the best thing to do (if your TV doesn't support 24Hz) is to use the MediaPortal Audio Renderer, and set Dynamic Refresh Rate to do 25Hz on 24FPS material. That way MPAR will speed up the audio to 25Hz (x2 = 50Hz) so it matches the refresh rate of your TV.
You can get the latest MPAR here.

Thank you for your help HomeY!

I have to take a took at the logs but it appears MP will play 1 24Hz file and not another. When it doesn't work my TV resets to 24Hz then instead of playing goes back to MP and resets to 50Hz. Unfortunately I can't get the log right now cause we are watching TV but as soon as I get a chance I will.

Has anything been updated in 1.3 that might cause this kind of issue? I never had anything like this on 1.2

No significant changes that could cause these issues. Best thing to do is check the MediaInfo in the logs and make sure the refresh rate settings match your TVs capabilities.
