Thanks vuego and Dragy, I'll check out FTR. I installed it once on my machine but had problems (I can't remember what now), but I'll try again.

You can still use MP TV Server. Default installation option for FTR is for using the Argus TV Server, so be aware of that.
By the way, Argus is good also, but I still prefer MP TV Server for the streaming and teletext.

Hi guys,
I tried FTR and yes, the event works, but it looks like FTR doesn't play well with MP's database (if I have them both using MySql). When I view a channel after setting things up, suddenly MP Configuration (not the TV Server config) has a bunch of settings changed or removed. Removing TV Server and just using Argus doesn't help). I think I need to somehow get FTR and MP on different databases.

I also noted that the Argus tuner keeps dropping channels I scan. After scanning a channel, its status window is initially able to record the channel, but if I change to my second HDHomerun tuner, suddenly it gets "no signal". Going back to the original tuner also then gets "no signal". I think that Argus doesn't play well with HDHomeRun tuners.

After trashing my setup from 10 hours of debugging, I'd like to avoid FTR for now. Does anyone know of a way to get a "Recording Started" event in MP using only the TV Server (without writing my own plugin to get the zaptochannel event)?

According to the FTR forum, it looks like FTR has a problem with HDHomerun PID's. It's supposed to be fixed in the 1.6.1 beta, but I think I'll wait for the release.

I managed to get FTR working with my HDHomeRun by checking the "reset when card idle" button in the Argus tuner settings for the card.

Now I get a very useable event that indicates what TV channel is being recorded, thanks guys!

One more thing though, and I can't believe it has come up yet, is how do I get a similar event when I'm running MP and I select a channel to watch from the TV Guide? Unfortunately I only have one TV channel to test with at the moment (I won't have an antenna up for another week or so), but I've noticed that eventtrigger only sends me a TVPlay event when my channel starts streaming. I don't see anything like "TVPlay Channel 1" or anything like that.

In order to control a TV box or antenna controller, I need to know what channel I've changed to. Is there any way to do this?

This is looking like an awesome plugin, which fits my need perfectly:)

Sadly, I am having some problems with it.

I am using the 1.4.0.0 version of the plugin, MP 1.2.3 and For The Record 1.6.0.2. I just upgraded these from 1.2.2 and (I think) 1.6.0.0 to see if that would solve the problem, but to no avail. I am running Windows 7 32bit. The plugin works great for videos outside of the TV plugin, but most of the time when I try to play a TV recording, my MP crashes immediately with no explanation. This is the crash message:

Code:
Faulting application name: MediaPortal.exe, version: 1.2.3.0, time stamp: 0x4f844ede

I tried to get some useful logs, but even with debug on there's nothing much to see. These are the last lines from MediaPortal.log after a crash:

Don't know if this is very helpful, but maybe someone else has the same problem?
