So you guys who made MP-Tvseries:

Is it alot of work to redo the plugin for movies? What MP needs is things beeing simple. The basic use of MP-Tvseries is so easy my father could use it without problems(that says alot). While MyVideos is rather easy to use, the whole thing isnt much more then a filebrowser. The new plugin should be as automated as MP-tvseries, and have the ability to show icons(could be enabled by default with easy stuff like 16:9 / 4:3, HD and surround).

Back to my first question: is there anyone who can/will do this? I would gladly donate money for such a plugin =)

I also would like this as well...
I would be willing to help test and design this -

couldn't the tvseries plugin just be modded to search for movie data instead of tv via a xml movies site?
that is how "my movies" works on MCE, or the DVD gallery for that matter.

It's more complicated than just modding where it imports data from. Plus there are parts of the TV-Series plugin that need to be redesigned, like the view system for example. In creating a new Movies Plugin, you don't want to port over the same problems. I am working on a Movies Plugin, I am hoping to have a beta by January. I will post again here though when I am ready for people to start playing around with it. If anyone is interested in helping out, particularly with the Media Portal GUI / Skinning side of things, PM me.

Just had a thought about stacked files, will that cause any trouble when using this plugin? If not, would it be possible for the plugin to merge the playtime of all the stacked files, so when you start playing the first part of a movie and look at the info, it will show the complete playtime? Or show the time like this: 53:06 (1.54)?

    fforde - great news!
I would gladly be a beta tester. One thing to think of - for movies there is often many movies with the same name, therefore i think it would be useful if it searched by both name and year - like this:
    Snatch (2000)
And I also suppose people would like it to get the name ether from catalog or filename. Some other things to consider:
If the movie is in several part - how to name them without the importer thinking it as the name of the movie?
Watched/unwatched flag - maybe movies in some folders always considered watched and others unwatched?
Just thinking loud, sure many would love a automatci movie plugin and there will be many more idees!
    Regards

Can't really see what more then My Films you need.... It supports lots of features/databases, all with good parsing/importing of multiple movies at once. You can't really avoid manual adding of most of the movies, since many movies have different names in different countries, different quality/formats (dvd, hddvd, bluray), and other. With the recent update, MyFilms also supports MyMovies database, wich have a huge user-made database over movies, containing high-res covers etc etc (so it's quite similar to MyTVSeries and mytvdb.com).

jocke: My Films does not support the use of mediainfo.dll, right? Also, setting My Films up is very much a hassle, while TV Series is not.

I recently went from WMC to MP w/ My Films & My Movies. It took me about 20 minutes to add my ~200 movies to the database. I can't really see how that could be "very much a hassle".

I can admit that My TVSeries is a joy to use, but, as I stated in my previous post, it would be a bit hard to make a similar addon for movies. You have many more variables, such as what version it is (DVD, HDDVD, BluRay), what cut it is (widescreen, extended, directors, etc), special releases with extras and different "international" titles around the globe. That would take long time adding your movies, since you'd have maybe up to 5-6 alternatives for each movie you have.
