Extension Installer V2 (1 Viewer)

Dukus is this the correct thread to report problems with Version 2? I have encountered two minor issues:

If I cancel an install I get an error message: "The request was aborted: The request was canceled."
When I click OK, I get an Unhandled exception error (see the attached txt file).

I could not find any error message. Is there error logging?

The second issue is with the display of changelogs:
1. Click on MyLyrics
2. Click on Install button - several releases are displayed and changelog (HUGE) appears
3. Move mouse to another version - changelog flashes and keeps flashing no matter which version I highlight with the mouse.


Actually I think the display of changelogs could be improved or else developers need instructions how to do them properly.

My system specs are up to date if you need to check those. Or if you need logs, let me know.

Yes it is right place to report errors, and i will take a look in this weekend.
For extension listing i need some display idea and/or mokups, the current have low usability with large extension collection

I don't think it is that bad Dukus. Sure, you could get very fancy, but I am not sure the benefit would justify the effort, unless that is very easy for you to do.

I just think you need to

• limit the size of the window (width and height) if possible
• add scroll bars or next page
• or limit the number of characters - if you create a limit - tool tip it or something in the MPEMaker

I attached two screenshots that might help you to see what I mean. Fanart Handler list is short so works well, Lyrics is pretty long and the display is difficult to read. Perhaps the Lyrics list flashes due to the size or just because there are different lists for each version. Hope someone can duplcate this issue to see if it is not just fonts or something on my system.

Dadeo, i make some improvement on extension listing, how it is a single line and when click on it will be grow, not looking very well, but i think it is more usable, the tooltip is limited to 1024 characters

Thanks Dukus Can I test this now or do I have to wait for the RC2 release? Do extensions have to remake the mpei file before I can check it?

Unzip in MP folder and no need to remade the package

Hi Dukus - I unzipped to MP folder, and checked the files have today's date, but the display is exactly the same as before (i.e. same as in the above screenshots) for Fanart Handler and My Lyrics MPEI Plugin is one line, but I think it was before. So I am not sure what line you mean I should click on to make it 'grow'.

I still get the flashing displays on MyLyrics and still get the error when cancelling a download - but you didn't say you fixed those yet

Hey Dukus,

first of all thank you for this great installer. Though it is sad that it's rarely used yet but I hope it will be used more often.

Now my question, how come that not all MPEIv2 plugin are showen in the available plugin list. I just installed the "german tv logos" plugin and after I installed it MPEI told me that it is installed (like it should) and that it is available (why not before?).

Is it possible to make a list of all plugins visible in the MPEI-Plugin? That would make it awesome. You know what I mean? You could just start MP and go to your MPEI plugin and there you can select and download all plugins. Maybe you can even install them out of the plugin. That's quite a bit like app store. I know that would need an MP install mask for every plugin. Is that possible at all?

MrCrabs, The tab is named "Know Extensions", so all ever installed extension are listed here, and works like a appstore , but for this extension developers need to some steps ......

first of all thank you for this great installer. Though it is sad that it's rarely used yet but I hope it will be used more often.

Mr. Crabs, please don't be sad , be patient. Keep in mind the installer is very new. Even though Dukus provided a test version for developers to get a head start, it takes time to learn and catch on. I think as everyone sees the benefits, as you have, you will see more and more extensions start to use it.

I do not want all extensions listed. The whole idea for me is to list ONLY the extensions compatible with my current version of MP. Which is exactly what MPEI does. Unless an extension uses MPEMaker, there is currently no easy way to tell what versions of MP are supported. Why would you want to list extensions that you do not know are compatible or not? And if they are not, often you cannot easily uninstall them either.

However, I think as more and more extensions start using MPEI - I am going to be asking Dukus for a one line display or it is going to be a very long list! Tags are nice, but there will soon be too many to be very useful for browsing, though they are VERY useful for searching. So Dukus, can we have a category view as well, or instead, (and just use the tags for searching)? By Categories I mean similar to our Repository - Music, Videos, Skins, or some such?
