Fiddling around in my own repo, branch is based on current master (1.10 Final). If you want to have a look/give it a try, check this.
I'm testing as we speak, and as i'm no dev, i just hope i did it right
Gonna see how tagged CD covers will look in the UI.

Try to use the built-in MP3 tag pictures.
Different disks for albums can download MePoTools, and my theme for titan are able to show them.

I just tested this with the Thumbnail improvement, but unfortunately it only scrapes the first thumb (first CD) and shows that everywhere

Shares view DOES work, there it shows all files in a single folder (which they are) and it uses the appropriate covers!

Better, I mean much better ... I mean it's just working!!! Fanart shown when there are more than 1 artist. Can't find any wrong behaviour

No, different covers for each disc can not download it because site does not give the number of the disk for the cover. Can only download different images of disks and all.

Tested some more, it seems the only way to see different covers for the different CDs of an album in MP, is to put a correct folder.jpg in the CD folders AND to use Shares view.

Media portal does not know how to work with different cover for an album , an album should be split into several (say adding the disk number in the album title) and then must show different cover.[DOUBLEPOST=1419872042][/DOUBLEPOST]

IMHO, MediaPortal should show the embedded cover if that is selected when importing to the database views. This should mean that multiple CDs' covers will work 100% of the time if the album art has been added correctly to the ID3 tag. If the cover is missing from the ID3 tag, the folder.jpg should be used (if selected in the database) and if none exist, the scraping of the cover should be done if the user wants it (either by FanArtHandler or MePoTools). While I liked the addition of scraping in MusicInfoHandler, is that plugin updated when there's a change in online sources? Too many chefs will ruin the soup.

That would be my preferred situation also, but the problem is that the scraping of the albumthumb is done only once, no matter how many discs that album has. Probably scraped from the first track. We don't scrape based on discnumber, so a 7-disk album (properly tagged), scrapes only 1 thumb, which is used for the entire album.
Without a (probably database also) redesign of this, it will never word, and i have no clue how much work it is.
Maybe @hwahrmann has an idea about this

Jameson_uk is maintaining that plugin, when he has the time for it, so might take some time.
What i really like about MIH is the quality of the thumbs (but MP can do the same) and the speed in which it processes the files.
