I´m in the same boat as you Nobleware. Running HD3200. If i choose MPV and WMR9 the quality is worthless.
I hope this problem gets a high prio to solve because it makes the TV part very bad.

Do you suggest I use them all? Or will the IGP be suffice? Just don't want to install diff drivers if I don't have to...

:)

EDIT: Just tried those drivers. No difference whatsoever. (Catalyst 8.4 / 61008) No difference again between VMR9 and EVR... Again, will have to resort to MPV as next best option.

Can anyone please tell me, can I improve the MPV's picture AT ALL? If I can at least reduce the blur I will be satisfied.

At Nobleware,

Sorry justinteract, but I am running 2 HD3200's here
when I talk about HD3X00 I did mean the real CC, not chipset graphic. The 780G chipset is as weak when it comes to deinterlacing as the HD2400. So the mimimum would be a HD3450.

and have another HD3420 on another system
I dont know this GPU ??

Also, please note the point is that HW-deinterlacing is the problem with all these "weak" cards.
Have you tried to use the PowerDVD and turn HW-deitnerlacing off ?
go to MP setup -> DirectShow Filter Control -> PowerDVD 7 Decoder Settings and turn both "Use Hardware Accelerator" settings off.

With this setting it works on my machines with PDVD 7 in SD and HD (720p, 1080i) without any flickering on a HD2400.
Now I would assume that it would work on a HD3450 as well, but can not cofirm it since I dont have one.
The chipset graphic is/might be a different story though....

With RC1 the flickering is much more present as with the older version for me (Vista). I have tried it on a ATI Radeon 3650 and an onboard Radeon 3200. The flickering is present on both cards, so it's not the fault of the GPU. If I use other applications like DVB Viewer there is no flickering.

Under XP there is no flickering at all with Media Portal and Hardware Acceleration on!

Justinteract and Tourettes, I think we have definately found ourselves a solution... for me anyway.

I did exactly what you suggested Justinteract and turned OFF hardware accelleration in the Powerdvd settings. I then went into decoder settings and turned EVR ON. SO FAR SO GOOD!

I have no flicker on overlayed video screens and my picture doesn't blur anymore. I also don't have the infamous banding throughout the whole picture from any of the other older decoders...

"Im a happy little vegemite as bright as bright can beeee!!" <-- Ozzie song...

EDIT: SCRUB THAT! 5 mins later it went straight back to it's blurry self again... It's back to the drawing board.

EDIT 2: OK I guess it's completely back to square one on this one peeps. I have now spent over two hours trying pretty much every combination of decoders and settings I could possible think of. Pretty much every other decoder besides PowerDVD (which I beleive uses nVidias core) is either incomplete and therefore inferior or is incapable of using the resources of the system properly. ie: Dscaler can't even start my TV picture when told to use hardware decoding...

Please oh great ones of the code, work your magic and free us from the overlayed video beasts that haunt us...

Crash Report

The flickering is causing that Mediaportal freezes sometimes on my computer. The bug is reproducable for me. If you go to MyTV, switch TV on.

Repeat this several times: Go to timer and go back. The screen in "Timer" flickers heavily (between black and blue). After some switching Mediaportal won't go back to the MyTV-menu and freezes. Look at the screenshot down under. I attached the error report for my system. This is the main error:

I am using an onbard Radeon 3200-graphic with Vista Ultimate 32 Bit. Flickering only happens with MPEG2-Filters (PowerDVD, DScaler...) and Hardware Accerlerations tuned on. The flicker appears with EVR and VMR9.
