Unfortunately that didn't help :(

I've had a chance to boot into my XP/MP1.2B install now and grab a few screenshots showing what it should look like.

I realised that the first couple were with a 10 line EPG (and there wasn't much variation as the EPG hadn't updated yet), so I changed it to 12 lines to match the previous screenshots and took another couple. I think it's clear that the programme names and information all look a lot clearer than in the one's taken under Win7.

I thought perhaps Win7's ClearType might be causing problems, so I disabled that but it didn't help. The only other things I can think of are that either StreamedMP is using the wrong font for some reason, or that the display driver or it's options are causing problems. I have noticed that the text in some games doesn't look right/very good as well, but I guess that doesn't help identify the problem, as it could be that they're using the same font that StreamedMP is perhaps (wrongly) using.

Have you got post processing settings enabled in your video card drivers? Things like anti-aliasing, dynamic contrast etc...

I would try upgrading/re-installing anything video related like Direct-X and Video Card Drivers.

I think the problem your having is somehow machine related rather than skin/mediaportal esp if you experience issues elsewhere like in games.

Fantastic. I compared the settings between XP and Win7 and the first one on the list, Morphological Filtering, turned out to be the culprit. I'm surprised because AA is set to Use Application Settings, so I didn't think it would have any effect.

It has to be disabled before MP is started as changing it whilst MP's loaded doesn't have any effect. I'll just have to use RadeonPro, ATItraytools or RivaTuner to enable it per game if I decide to (certainly not for text heavy games anyway).

Thanks for helping me track down the problem guys. :D
