does 4TR store all these data in it's own database? TV-Server does not store information like episode title at the moment

Yes, there's no need anymore for TV Server to store any guide data. It's all handled and stored by For The Record.

One other thing ( :p ) I know the ForTheRecord MP Recordings Importer isn't part of FTR but I used it yesterday to import my recorded TV into FTR and was surprised to see that it didn't import my "old" recorded TV (i.e. TV recorded before I upgraded to MP1 RC3 - I was still using 0.2.3.0 until a few weeks ago). I take it there is no way to import these programmes into FTR then? I know I can access them through "My Videos" but not having the EPG info is a bit of a bummer..
Was you still using the built in tv engine as opposed to the tv server with 0.2.3.0? I think the tv server has always written an xml file alongside the recording file which is what I'm using in the ForTheRecord MP Importer to scan for recordings.

Are the old recordings in DVR-MS format? If so I believe all the data is inside the file, so I can probably look for those files as well and try to extract the data, though I can't make any promises as to when I'll get around to this :D

So far as I can see, it its not possible to switch between different channellists like 'my zaplist' 'astra 19.2' etc.

But call me stupid if it can . (I am)

Sure it is ;) But you need to create channel groups in For The Record using the Management Console.

    ForTheRecord MP Recordings Importer

I've updated the ForTheRecord MP Recordings Importer to version 1.1, this version includes the following changes:
    • Ability to link recording channels to channels in FTR if the existing recording channel doesn't already exist in FTR (i.e. the name has changed)
    • Automatic mapping of the recordings location into a UNC share (this uses the same method as the FTR recorder/tuner plugin) - if it can't map to a UNC share then the entered location will be used.
    • Recordings which aren't mapped to a FTR channel will be highlighted in red and won't be imported.
I've uploaded the new version to the repository here, as before it may take a little while to appear.

    Notes:
It's not perfect, if you choose not to link a channel then you can't subsequently link it, you need to reload the application to do this.
If you have 10 recordings for a channel, then you'll only be prompted to link that channel the first time round and then subsequently it will use the same choice for the other 9 recordings.

    Thanks,
    Bagal.

One more question - why is XMLTV preferred over DVB? I've found DVB-S much less hassle to set up and use - I'd hate to (and won't) go back to using XMLTV...
XMLTV generally provides much more detailed information, like the episode title, the director, the actors of a movie, etc...

And the richer your guide data, the better your scheduling rules work, so that's why it's the preferred source ... :)

OK, thanks for that - I'll still stick with DVB-S though, so much less hassle :)

I was using TV Server and recording in .ts format. It's no big deal if I can't import this stuff I guess, I'll have it all watched in a couple of months anyway ;)

 :D seems to negate the main reason of having an HTPC to me - whenever anyone asks me if I've seen an ad on TV (it happens!) I have to say "I haven't seen any ads for years - you should build a home theatre PC" :D

I would still consider Timeshifting (i.e. pause a show) and starting a currently recording show half an hour later, to be able to jump through ads as watching LiveTV.

But I agree with you, this is one of the great things about having an HTPC.
