Channel linking will be improved in that it will allow you to map a channel manually and not only based on its display name. That way you'll be able to add the linked channels to For The Record yourself, as a first solution to the linked channels issue.

This will be in 1.3.1, a beta will probably be posted on our closed beta-forum next week or the week after.

Is it a bug that I no longer gets a "REC" symbol on all my MP screens after installing 1.3? I remember that when I tried it with earlier versions (where both ForTheRecord and regular MP client were installed) I still got the "Rec" in the topcorner of my no matter if I recorded something with ForTheRecord or MP's standard TVserver.
But this happens no longer. Is it something that will be added?

The For The Record "home" screen aka "My TV" should show the recording symbol, could you verify that? I'll investigate why the other screens no longer show this, but I guess it has something to do with the regular TV plugin no longer making contact with TV Server (since it's no longer active). We'll see what we can do about getting this working again.

4TR Screen for Aeon Wide

I have produced some new skin files for the Aeon Wide skin for release 1.3, little late as dot-i asked me weeks ago but for various reasons did not have chance to complete them.

Pleae see the Aeon Wide thread for these versions.

hi,

have some problems with FTR here.

1. not visible recording dot (MP home)
2. problems tuning channels (i posted that also at the FTR board). in the livetv FTR plugin i click on the tvon button (using a mce remote or a wireless keyboard) and can watch a channel (fullscreen). after that i go back to the livetv screen and click on the tvon button again to switch off tv. after that procedure i cannot watch tv anymore. clicking again on the tvon button or choosing a channel from the channellist has no effect. the screen is black for a second or two and then i see the FTR tvplugin again. i have to restart MP. after that i can repeat the above procedure.
there are no logs in FTR and tvserver. in the MP log i get this error:

2008-11-01 14:32:26.460871 [ERROR][MPMain]: TSReaderPlayer:GetInterfaces() failed

using the MP own tvplugin there are no problems tuning channels.


i´m using MP RC3 without SVN, FTR 1.3, Blue3 skin

ForTheRecord MP Recordings Importer

As with many people I wanted to be able to import my existing MP recordings into the ForTheRecord database, so I've made a little utility to do just that.

To be fair, I didn't have to do too much as the code for finding existing recordings came from the TvServer and importing into ForTheRecord was a one line call!

I've submitted this to the MP plugins/utilities repository but it might take a little while to appear there so I've attached it to this post as well along with a number of screenshots.
You can now find it here.

How to use:

• Set the connection to the ForTheRecord server.
• Set the MP recordings location.
• Click the 'Find Recordings' button.
• Choose which recordings you want to import.
• Click the 'Import Selected Files' button.
• If anything goes wrong an error message will be displayed, otherwise a succcessfully imported message will be displayed.

and that's about it!

Note: if an import fails, you might get the error 'Database error, concurrent changes made by another user?', you need to look in the EventViewer on the ForTheRecord server to see what the real problem was. A problem I've just had is that the channel name of the recorded program didn't match the channel name in ForTheRecord so caused a problem, which is something for me to look at!

Hi,

I've just installed FTR with Indigo...looks good, but I've got a few problems that I cant solve.

How do I now auto-start tv in full screen ? Both options are selected in mp config but it's not happening.
Also if I go back through the epg and select a program thats finished I get prompted to record it.

.... thank you for that. i tried your importer and it works well but i have a problem here with my old recordings (which i did on german premiere and other channels). the channelnames are different now so your plugin cannot import them. for example i have some recordings made on "MDR FERNSEHEN" but now my provider calls it "MDR Thüringen". would it be possible to do something here?

I don't have the "REC"-symbol anywhere, not even in MyTV.
